Starting PFS at level 0

Pathfinder Society

So I was looking through the pdf on how to start play in the pathfinder society and I had a couple of questions that the pdf did not answer.

Can I join the scenario anytime during the course of the season?

I assume at the conventions they will run scenarios at different levels of play?

I am concerned with the lack of conventions and re-occurring game dates in my area. I checked out the paizo site and http://www.warhorn.net/ for places that sponsor PFS and I was only able to find a couple of places, with only one within a 50 mile area where I would drive. Is there a better source for me to find games or am I just in an area where there is not much activity? I am concerned with joining and than not being able to find a game. I suppose I could run games at home but I would rather be a player and I already have two campaigns I am running.

You can join at any time. There is a google map link around this board somewhere where people put pushpins in to tell you where they were located, also look at meetup.com for groups in your area (search for D&D groups and then do a messageboard post asking if anyone is doing PFS) might be another place to look.

I think BASHCon in Toledo is going to have some PFS events. It's the 20-22 of Feb. I think.

I am running two PFS scenarios at Fun 4 All in Ypsilanti at 12 noon on Saturday the 10th (this weekend). It's only about a 40 minute drive from Monroe, if that's about where you're coming from... Heck, I'm driving an hour to get there just to run the scenarios. Sign-up is active on Warhorn on the reoccurring game day section (see the top left hand border of the Warhorn webpage for the link). Also, either give me your e-mail or search the Yahoo! Discussion Groups for "Southeastern Michigan Pathfinder Society" and ask to join the local group. We have 26 members since September and at least 4-5 handful are from the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area and one is from Downriver. Most of us are Oakland County, but if you can put a table together I will get you a GM.

Excellant! Just what I was looking for!!I will try to create a pc and join the society before Saturday so I can make it. Do you currently have room at an existing table? I live in Taylor so that is even closer to Ypsi.

Now I just want to make sure I have this right. I create a 1st level pc and I can play in any scenario of the appropriate level correct?

I joined the yahoo site under the name of ppirie1.

Thanks for the help

Yep. 1st level PC using 3.5 PHB only (rules are in the Guide to PFS) and you can play it in any scenario. APL will determine what tier the scenario is actually run under. Best of luck and have a great time. PFS rocks!

We've got Eirip squared away in our local group now & we'll baptize him into PFS with Silent Tide on Saturday.

Thanks, Doug!
