Wow, I feel better just saying it.
I came here to speak out, mostly in my own frustration, but also because 99.9% of the community here can understand a bit of sarcasm and tongue-n-cheek.
I'm not sure how long its been since Dragon and Dungeon died, but I miss it. I miss the paper and the ink, and the magazine in my hand at the work lunch table getting funny looks from the older overly religious women that work with me. I enjoyed smiling and cackling a lot to myself, often just to watch them squirm.
I'm a 4e fan. I like the new look and feel, the changes are OK with me, the game is faster, and most importantly, my kids love it. They are 11,10 and 8...and love to play. I was never a huge fan of 3.x, not that it's anyone fault here, but it just didn't do well with me.
I am angry that Paizo is not doing 4e stuff, but I'm mostly angry at the folks that won't allow them to do 4e. When I say won't allow, I'm looking at you license folks, you know who you are!
I am angry at the quality/quantity of the material I see coming out online from Wizards. I qualify that by saying that the published printed adventures are actually very good. I like them! I will also admit that the PDF adventures are also very good...so what am I angry at, well most of that stuff you keep throwing into the new e-zines, use to be the free stuff. I have no interest in paying to listen to how your group is playing some beta, or some adventure, or what your personal opinion is of the D&D universe. I'd point fingers at these folks, but surprisingly most of them now have jobs elsewhere.
In my not so business oriented mind, Dungeon and Dragon, in its current format, should now be free, as with the Character Generator and all them tools they dun got up. They support my book buying habits and my love of the game. I can't really use them without the books, so they encourage me to buy more. However, charging for them has only caused me to stand outside looking in, and I only own 3 books. I haven't even bothered to look at all the new ones.
I've tried Pathfinder, because someone will respond and ask me if I have, and suggest I try it. I find it very interesting, but it falls back on the 3.x and I'm still not pleased with it. it's probably best to take out the numbers really. I like the *new* game Wizards has created. I like the original game TSR created. I was not overly fond of the game that was created in the middle, and as a result, the various adaptations of it have never bode well with me.
Sadly, even my kids, who don't get to experience the torrent of anger and outrage on the Wizard's forums, are less interested in D&D now, than they were before. That's my fault. After nearly 30 years, I grab Talisman, Descent (Into the Dark) and Runebound, rather than my D&D books when we have an afternoon to play.
I sure wish Paizo did 4e, did I mention that?

~grins~ Even though I don't play 4e, I can understand your frustration. On one hand, it sucks that Paizo will never (as in the next 4 to 5 years at least) do any 4e stuff. OTOH, there are people here who are trying to do conversions from 3.5 & 3.p to 4e. Check them out. However, just remember that even playing what you are playing with your kids keeps them in the circle, even if it is the outer circle. They are growing up to like gaming, and it doesn't matter what kind it is. Keep up the good work...

Yeah, me too. A 4th Edition Pathfinder adventure path would be awesome. And, I'd keep my two Paizo subscriptions. Sadly, I am gonna cancel them when Second Darkness is complete.
I think the offerings in e-Dungeon have been improving, especially the Scales of War adventure path. I don't mind paying for the D&D Insider, and I have been pleased with it. The Character Builder is worth it, and the two magazines are certainly a great deal for seven dollars a month.
Look for 4E content from Goodman Games. And, Necromancer Games said they are finally gonna publish in 4E, too. So, expect some content from them.

"
If and when an acceptable 4E GSL is released Necro will review it and review the game climate at that time. If it makes sense to support 4E, we will. Similarly, when Pathfinder becomes a fully supportable system with a released official license and compatibility logo, etc, we will strongly consider supporting that. This is not a mutually exclusive situation."
In another thread he goes on to say at this time nothing is even under development at this time.
The announcements on the homepage are way, way old, someone else published the advanced players book, and the other stuff is all on hold.
