No shipments for subscribers in December?

Customer Service

I was wondering if there will be any shipment for subscribers in December, as on the products page I only see January 2009 as the next closest date. Or is this only some kind of precaution?

Unfortunately the December Pathfinder and Module shipments were pushed into early January. There should be a planet stories shipment in December still.

Actually, they're supposed to arrive at the very end of December, so if they arrive on schedule, we may *start* shipping them in December, but we don't expect to *finish* shipping subscriber copies until the 2nd, so it displays as January.

Gaah! I missed an update. Turns out they probably won't arrive until January.

Thanks for the info!

Should we expect two shipments in January or are we looking at one large shipment with two different APs?

We haven't got a confirmed delivery date for Pathfinder 18 yet, but we're hoping it will be late January. If so, people who have "hold for monthly shipment" will get one package with both at the end of the month, and folks holding for Pathfinder (or who have only one subscription) will get them separately as usual.

That is Very Disappointing....

This has been a sticking point of mine...

You guys keep saying this won't happen any more... but it keeps happening...

grrr...just grrr..

The Subscription method is starting to get annoying...

Jan I am getting 2 APs, and 2 Chronicles... when I should not be getting more then 1 a month on them..

If the hold option means waiting for the second AP in certain months, then I would prefer a different option. I don't mind two shipments in January, assuming they were at least two weeks apart. It would be preferable to a single hundred dollar order, which is a bit harder to budget for.

I was under the impression that the hold option meant that all other things were held until a single AP issue was ready and then everything to that point was shipped out.

Which hold option are you talking about? the hold for pathfinder adventure path seems to be the one you want - it will ship as soon as 17 is available. Hold for monthly shipment only does one shipment a month, no matter what.

Cpt_kirstov is correct—it sounds like you want the "Hold for Pathfinder" option.

My bad. I misunderstood what was meant. That is, in fact, the option I have picked.

Well, you didn't have any Pathfinder expenses in December, so the money allotted for that should cover that portion of the January products, right?

That is true, but I can understand why some people would be annoyed or upset. Sometimes it is just not possible to hold the money for too long, despite what you ahve budgeted in.

We have never said it won't happen again—that's simply not a promise we can make, as there are too many circumstances outside of our control.

We've said before we're working to change our schedules so that products will be scheduled to arrive in the first weeks of each month so that if there *are* unexpected delays of a week or two, the products will still ship within the correct month... but we've also said that products are still in process under the old end-of-month schedules, and it will take some time before you see the effects of the change.

QFT.

When you're income is not that big and you have four children, any little emergency empties the checking account pretty fast. Not to mention its December and the holidays make the money fly faster.

That is true..and I apologize...you have never used the strong words of never....

I know it is not your intention for this to happen...

But in the past it was because you were behind schedule because of the receiving the products on time for print.. then once you caught up..it was because of Customs..

You guys just seem to have 'Unexpected delays' a lot..

Just start calling them Expected....

Eh it's probably not a big deal for hte most part, but I do wonder about some of our lads being overseas. Has the doubling up of shipments ever caused ya to be hit with customs charges?

Oh well. It makes for another Christmas present I wasn't sure I had the money for.

I haven't had to pay customs on any Paizo shipment yet here in Germany.

Dark Archive

Yeah in Korea I think you gotta order something valued at $150 USD or more, so no worries out here.

UK Customs are supposed to add charges whenever anything exceeds £18 ($27), but don't seem to bother until it gets to $100 - after that they always seem to add it for me. Between the VAT and the handling charges it adds a significant amount to the cost of a shipment (about £17), so I try to keep orders under $100 - but then it becomes a trade-off with shipping costs. So, it's good to know in advance if the next subscriber shipment is going to exceed $100 so I can budget for it.

An extremely useful thing to remember is that there is neither customs duty nor VAT payable on books in the UK. When I found that out, I stopped worrying about the occasional larger shipment.

U

In Hungary, you only have to pay if the VAT (5% for books) would be more than 10 euros, which means that as long as the shipment contains only books, any shipment under 200 euros is OK for me... :-) things get interesting when there is domething else in the packege as well that is not book, as for thet the Vat is 20%, and if the content is mixed, you have to pay for the books too...

Sovereign Court

Yep, no VAT on Books here in the UK, which is great. (Taxes on knowledge are wrong, and all that) So as long as you don't order too many other gaming aids and the like, you should be fine. :)

How do I check what option for shipping I have set? I can't seem to find if I have the option set to ship as soon as Pathfinder is in or combine for 1 shipment per month. I'd like to have the 1 shipment if that reduces the shipping costs.

Thanks for the answer, but I don't seem to find what the shipping is other then Standard shipping.

Tio, you only have one subscription, so your Pathfinder will ship as soon as each volume arrives at our warehouse. If you had one or more subscriptions to other Paizo product lines then you'd see the various "hold for Pathfinder, hold for monthly shipment, etc." options on your My Subscriptions page.

Ah, so that's it. Thanks Gary!

I was happy to hear that I would receive both issues of Pathfinder at the same time and have to pay for shipping only once, until I read the above and found out that I will get them one at a time. Is there no way I can receive them at the same time without resubscribing to one of my canceled subscriptions? I do not mind waiting.

Change your shipping option to the monthly option. As long as the stuff slated for "Early January" actually comes out in January and not the very end of December, the early January items should be held until the last item you subscribe to has come in at the end of the month.

That is the problem. I have canceled all my other subscriptions except for Pathfinder, so I do not have an option. I could resubscribe to one of my canceled subscriptions, then cancel after the first Pathfinder does not ship, but that would not be honest.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

We found out this week that the shipment containing Pathfinder 17, as well as Pathfinder Companion: Osirion, and Pathfinder Chronicles: Guide to Absalom will be on time after all!

(Earlier in the month, we were told that it had been delayed until early January).

Assuming weather doesn't get in the way, we expect to ship subscriber copies next week.

The next Planet Stories novel, Death in Delhi, is unfortunately not on that schedule, and probably won't arrive until early January; the following volume, The Reavers of Skaith, should still be on target for late January.
