This story caught my eye, being in my local paper and pertaining to my Alma Mater.
It doesn't surprise me. UNC has always tried to be Berkeley-esque. It just seems oddly counterintuitive to "embrace diversity" in this manner.
Edit: On a side note:The Russian Government has declared Santa Claus an Illegal Immigrant. Just thought you'd like to know.
When I was in London, I was shocked to see a nativity in Trafalgar Square with choirs queuing up to sing Xmas carols for hours.
Odd thing about Russia: St Nicholas is a patron saint of Russia. On the other hand, it sounds like dueling versions of Father Christmas that they do not identify with St Nick.
I agree that the tree should have been taken down a while ago.
It had a poll on whether they were right to take it down. I voted, but can't see the results. /:(
