Iconics ages

Second Darkness

Dark Archive

Hi I tried to put this up in the pathfinder general discussion but for some reason its not allowing me to create new threads so ill put it here.
As the title says I'm curious at what the iconics ages are (I mean all the iconics not just the second darkness ones). If its possible would someone be able to tell me the ages of the Iconics in human equivalent years?

Thank you for your time

The PathfinderWiki lists the following dates of birth for the iconics:

Ezren 4665 AR (making him 43 in 4708 AR)
Seelah 4687 AR (making her 21 in the current year)
Seltyiel 4679 AR (29)

These are all calculated either by a specific age they are mentioned being (such as Ezren) or an age they were when a notable event occurred, like the Battle of Red Hail. In any case, there's still quite a few of the iconics whose ages remain a mystery.

Until concrete data comes along for the rest, you could use these ages (based on their portraits and background):

Valeros 24
Seoni 20
Kyra 23
Merisiel 27 (Human Equivalent)
Ezran 43 (Personally I would add 10 years)
Seelah 21
Harsk 40 (Human Equivalent)
Lem 26 (Human Equivalent)
Sajan 24
Lini 23 (Human Equivalent)
Seltyiel 29 (Human Equivalent)
Amiri 17 or 18

I believe that the 3 listed in Yoda's post are the only official dates that can be pinned down.

Yeah I was kind of hoping James or someone could come in here and mention if any of the others had set ages or not.

Now if they did that, then what incentive would there be to buy their books? I mean they could string us along with one obscure age reference hidden away in one book each year for how long? I know it's the sole reason I'm a Superscriber!

With the exception of Ezren (who is old enough to gain the first batch of ability score modifiers for age), the iconics do not have set ages. At 1st level, it's fair to assume that the non-Ezren ones are at about the same ages the PH lists for starting ages by race by class. As they level up, they get older. The rate at which they get older isn't set in stone, because some GMs are okay with PCs hitting 20th level in a month and other GMs freak out if they hit 20th level before 20 years.

Which does raise a question I've had about Ezren. Forgive me if it sounds like one of the nerds' questions from Shatner's infamous "Get a Life" skit on SNL -

If Ezren didn't become a Wizard until his 30s or 40s, what was he until then? He's not shown as being a multi-class, so will the PFRPG see rules for class-less humans?

He was the same thing anyone is before they pick up their first class, be that class wizard or commoner. Whatever that may be.

If it were up to me, I'd say that the closest anyone gets to "classless" in the game is being a 1st level NPC class, and that once they decide what they're gonna do with their lives, that first level gets replaced by their first level in their chosen class. In most cases for most NPCs in the world, the "replacement" class = the original class. No level gain. Things just stick the way they are.

Wizards require more study to become "complete". So those missing years must have passed as Aprentice, at an Academy or at an lonely wizard...

But Ezren did not study magic until very late in life, no?

Paizo Blog wrote:

At the age of 42, Ezren is full aware that he's missed his adulthood, yet at the same time he looks forward to discovering the world, and making a difference for a cause that he believes in. His dissatisfaction with family, religion, and government left him precious little to trust but his own intellect—in fighting for his father's redemption, he had become a gifted researcher, scholar, and intellectual. Lacking the spry limbs of youth, the trust in religion, the strong arm of the soldier, or the way with words of the politician, Ezren felt he had but one option open. He traveled to tarnished Oppara, capital of Taldor and one of the oldest cities of the continent of Avistan, hoping to join one of several prestigious schools of wizardry. Yet time and time again, he was turned away due to his age. No wizard seemed to want an apprentice who, in many cases, was older than them. So Ezren was forced to strike out on his own once again.

Over the next decade, as he traveled Avistan, Ezren studied where he could, picking up tricks of the wizard's trade here and there. The combination of arcane study mixed with his worldly first-hand experiences have given him an edge over young wizards fresh out of apprenticeship and eager to make names for themselves. Ezren knows about the many ways the world can trick and betray you, but now he's finally begun to master the art of magic, giving him the tools to fight back.

It appears that Ezren was classless for a number of years into his adult life.

actually his bio will tell us he was a tradesman working for his father, then he bagan an investigation to discover proof that his father was innocent of a charge that destroyed his business just to discover that he had been always guilty...

he learned by himself because no one wanted to train someone as old as him

i call that determination, and excellent research skills

mora about Ezren

Just have to say I think Merisiel is supposed to be the Human Equivalent of about 16 (based on back story and other remarks).

She's also a forlorn elf. She's over 100 years old, and has seen her childhood friends grow up to be adults and then die of old age while she stays young. That does kind of mess with your head.

My take on her age, in any case, is about 130 (about 17 or 18 in human years) when she starts adventuring at 1st level. Who knows how old she is in some of the pictures of her from higher level adventures?
