I wonder if we will get to see the saucer seperate in this one, since G.R. did say that they could, it was just never shown in the original series.Just caught the new trailer--I'm ready to say 'awesome.'
Can't wait to see this one.
I also wasn't happy with that bit of the trailer.
Furthermore, I wasn't put at ease with the scene of Kirk and Spock yelling at each other - it seemed very out of character, especially for Spock.
I also am hoping that the trailer was focused on the action sequences, and that the full movie has more of a blend of action and strategy and intelligence, because the trailer made it seem like just some action sci-fi movie.

Just a thought what if thats Kirk's way of finding out if he can trust his subordinates and thats even if he starts out as captain since I assume they're showing him joining star fleet and going from there...
Have they explained why they changed that detail regarding the construction of the enterprise?
Wasn't the reason for outer space construction was because it would be easier to create a much stronger ship and that little detail regarding an anti-matter injection system or warp drive?

Well, if the theory of a new timeline is correct then perhaps building the ship in space was not possible due to enemy forces or political reasons.

I don't mind the boots and other stuff, but if it's a re-imagining, they could have at least replaced the miniskirts with something more practical. <sighs>
As I understand, the storyline involves young Kirk during his cadet stage of life. But according to canon, if I recall correctly, Kirk first met Spock during the first episode of the Original Series. (The one where the Enterprise broke through some sort of galactic boundary and two important crew members - including Kirk's original BFF - got crazy god-powers.)
Nonetheless, I am looking forward to the movie.
You recall incorrectly. In "Where No Man Has Gone Before" Spock was already Kirk's science officer. He became XO after the other guy (Gary Powers? Name slips my mind) ascends to godhood and dies.

I can't wait for the scene in the new movie where Spock uses his Vulcan mind powers to cut the top of a Klingon's head off and eat his brain.
Actually if the current premise is accurate he'll just examine the brain and return the skull cap and feel a bit dejected that the recipient chose to die in the meantime...
Then someone from the company steps in to nick the brain so everyone still believes he eats brains... talk about a lousy reputation for the entire vulcan race...

Blame it on the Vulcan High Command.
