Heren looks thoughtful.

'The creature is airborne, so we can't track her. How will we go about finding her, if we can get the jump on her that would help alot? One good charge with my lance while she's grounded and we might turn the tide very quickly.'

"She will likely keep the same hunting grounds," Adjunta says, "it seemed like she had a platform up in those trees, I can't imagine her straying too far. We should head in and keep our eyes to the skies. Only this time let's keep off the road so we don't give her the benefit of surprise."

Okay so, approach on foot, keeping off the road with ears plugged. Who can cast message? Or anything to help us coordinate.

Tis a pity we have no way off silencing her in some way. Heren..I see a flaw in your plan to skewer her and that is that I dont think we can muffle the horses ears enough to stop it hearing the song.Maybe if one or more off us pretends to be under her spell we can get close enough to pin her down.

'Your right. We'll hav eto leave the horses here and try ranged weapons. Or if one of us, whos a good liar does pretend, they'll need to be strong enough to wrestle her to the ground. That'd make a huge difference.'

To Alberic: How much for the "Message" scrolls?

Before the PCs launch their ambush Adjunta will try to buff his companions as much as possible. Likely using bless. Adjunta will have swapped magic weapon for spiritual weapon and will likely try to cast that on the first round of combat. Then he will continue to attack the harpy or buff his companions for the remainder of combat.

Okay everyone, I'm going to be away for about a month. I might be able to post in that time but I can't make any promises. I leave Adjunta in your capable hands!

At the table, Ianthé was listening to the plan and considering the angles of things. While this direct approach attempted to deal with the harpy herself, there was another option.

"She retreats when pressed, so what about the option of removing her retreat, then dealing with her? in the event that we are unable to permanently remove her, she will at least be without a retreat, perhaps making her head elsewhere."

Now a tanglefoot bag would cost you 60 gp but Alberic will let you have the messsage scroll at normal cost (25gp) explaining there is not much demand for them

Mel can contribute 30 gold to the cost of a bag..thats most off 'his' money

Heren is actaully skint. So say we get a tanglefoot bag with the party fund, that sounds fair, then Mel can carry it as she probably has the best Dex. Malgasir if he does. Then we'll have the tanglefoot bearer and the other stealthy character (Mel and Malgasir either way) sneak arround and approach from the opposite side we will.

We'll be a little more obvious, and if I stay sane I can try and protect the spellcasters while the others get the drop with the tanglefoot bag if she's on the ground, she's mince meat. Sound like a plan? Oh and if anyone has say resistance, cast it on me and the tanglefoot bearer before we start. Or even better protection from evil.

And the fact that we have lost the player
But nonetheless , you leave Brandon's bridge going back to the harpy's tree .
You travel some hours and are nearing the place in the middle of the afternoon .

Sighing, Ianthé disdains the earplugs, setting her jaw. Heren gets the Resistance cantrip put on him, (and herself as well as everyone else within reach). "If I get ensorcelled", she says, "knock me out."

Frowning at the unchivalrous suggestion Heren grits his teeth, placing the ear plugs in his ears, and readying himself for unpleasantness, sword drawn.

Hasim stuffs the scrolls into his robe pocket (assuming he has one) and plugs his ears.

DM will need to make Adjuntas saves etc as Guy won't be back for another 3 weeks

Mel tries to get as close to the tree as is possible whilst staying hidden

OK if you aggree , I'll consider you are 120 feet away from the tree except from Mel who is creeping toward the tree
Mel is now on the base of the tree . so far there has been no reaction from the harpy

Welp, I'm terrified.

Trying to stay as queit as possible, Heren begins to move slowly towards the tree, ever watchful for movement from the harpy.

Mel is not affected, neither is Ianthe, Heren or Adjunta. Hasim on the other hand begins to move towards the tree .
Apparently rhe harpy is on the platform 40' higher on the tree.

Otherwise those of you who saved can see in the brambles your cart which seem relatively in good condition and the bones of at least one ox .

Mel curses softly as Hasim begins to move towards the tree..she hopes the harpy is going to be stupid enough to come down but just in case spans her crossbow and lays it,loaded, on the ground beside her

Thinking quick, Heren begins to slowly walk towards the harpy along with Hasim, faking fascination.

Mel looks up the tree knowing the Harpy is probably not aware of her presence and that if she could get to the platform while it is distracted then she could probably settle things quickly.

Her mind however screams it's fear at her..climb to that height..she can't be serious.

Ianthe retreats to stay out of sight of the harpy behind and a tree and takes her crossbow in hand

with only two opponents visible , the harpy chooses to fire at the one lightly armoured ie Adjunta
