You mean Dark Alliance? It's a total hack-and-slash, if you didn't know. But it has its charms.
I'd grab the second one. The gameplay is a bit better, the game moves faster, and the story and characters are stronger. The PCs also have more interesting personalities and abilities, and the villain isn't annoying.
Plus, once you beat it on the hardest difficulty you can play as Drizzt (meh) and Artemis Entreri (yay)!

Considering getting Baldurs Gate for PS2... yes. no. maybe so?
I much prefer Champions of Norrath for a console RPG, mainly because it's less twitchy. I didn't grow up on Nintendo and the jump-accurately-through-moving-hazards-or-plummet-to-your-death-and-have-to -start-over-from-your-last-save-point gets *really* old *really* quickly when you can't do it at all. Champions has a more PC-game feel to me. But if you're familiar with Super Mario and the like, it wouldn't be an issue.

Yeah, it's nothing like the Baldurs Gate games for the PC.
When I first played it I thought it was meh, but for some reason I never get tired of playing it. If you do get it, play with a friend. It's a lot more fun that way.
I also think it's a lot more fun on hard mode, but that might just be me.
My brother and I beat it on Extreme mode, then started a game on Medium difficulty because we hadn't tried it. His rogue was killing everything in one hit, which was awesome. We cracked up when we realized he was doing it with a Rusty Dagger. It's a common punchline for us now.

Joey Lafyatis wrote:Thanks for feedback. Jal, I looked on Amazon. I could get Dark Alliance for $3. Dark Alliance 2 is $30... hmmm? Is #2 tens times better?Tough call. I'd say there is a breaking point. I wouldn't pay $30 for #2. But #1 is worth it for three bucks.
Actually, that's exactly how much I paid for 2 when my old copy finally gave out. I'm not sure you could find it any where else for less, except perhaps ebay, and even then a lot of sellers use the prices on sites like ebgames.com to set the prices for their sales. I say pick it up!
