Is Kaer Maga on top of the Storval rise overlooking the plains below , or at its Base?

Silver Crusade

I am running a Rise of the Rune lords adventure path. The party is just about 7th level, and they are finishing the Skin saw Murders.
I am going to run the Seven Swords of Sin as an interlude between the Skin Saw murders, and the Hook Mountain Massacres.
I plan to use the seven swords of sin as legacy weapons for the PCs that will grow with them, and then at the end they can use the seven swords of sin against his Nibbs the Runelord of Greed. I also plan to move Hook mountain to the Fog Scar Mountains. I plan to move FT Ranik at the base of the Fog Scar mountains, and have the Turandarok river, which empties into the sea at Sandpoint, begin at a lake in the Fog Scar mountains, which was created by the Skulls Crossing Dam.
After Batteling Xaneseia and driving her off (I plan to have her get away and become a re occurring villan) and Solving the Skinsaw murders, and presenting their findings to the Mayor of Magnimar, The PCs are going to be hired by Wen Histani, a cleric of Abador, to retireve the seven swords of sin from Kaer Maga. Once they do this and return to Magnimar, the Mayor will hire them to go and investigate FT Ranik at the base of the Fog Scar Mountains. Upon passing through Sandpoint, The PCs will discover a floating gambling barge run by Xanesia. In the insueing battle the Barge will burn down. The PCs will discover that there is more to the little entrance Tatoos then meets the eye. To the naked eye they will appear as a butter fly, like Desna’s, but once a detect magic is cast, it will reveal a Sanhidrin Rune. ½ the town will bear these tattoos.
As the PCs press on to FT Ranik I will run the Hook Mountain Masssacer.
Once they defeat the ogers and their master, the PCs will be awarded FT Ranik, and become feudal lords. Sandpoint will fall under their protection. I think the players will enjoy starting as the fender off of goblins, to the slayer of giants, and now the lords of a castle, right by the same town.

I have read the module, and Eando Kline’s entry on Kaer Maga, in Pathfinder #3. Is there any more imfo on Kaer Maga?

Is Kaer Maga, pearched atop the Storval rise, Overlooking a 3,000 ft drop? Or is it at the base of the enscarpment? I can’t tell from the descriptions and the map in the module
Any help would be appreciated thanks

It is at the top. This is why Eando has to travel through the caves up the inside of the cliff to reach them when sailing up the Yondabakari.

The bulk of the city is at the top of the cliffs, though there is an undercity built under the ground that extends into the cliffs and then there is a big staircase that goes from there all the way to the bottom through the tunnels.

As for your geography rework, that sounds like a good idea. Awarding Fort Rannick to the PCs seems like a cool idea but if you play the rest of the adventure path as it is written keeping them in Sandpoint works a lot better. Nice compromise.

Be forewarned. Seven Swords of Sin is a dungeon crawl. I ran it one day when I had nothing else prepared and TPKed the party on the third encounter. This is a brutal module designed by Paizo for 2007 Gen Con to kill PCs.

Thank you. Kaer Maga is on the top of the Storval rise. That is uch more dramatic.
This module is a meat grinder for the PCS? I will have to read it more closely. Thanks. I may modify it a bit.
