This is your big chance. The computer is looking for a new batch of trouble shooters. Citizen it's time to leave your mundane infrared clearance lives behind, and take this opportunity to be promoted to red citizen status, so that you may better serve the all mighty computer.

Any takers?

What is a Paranoia PbP?

EDIT: Nevermind, I looked it up. Good luck with this game.

I guess there aren't as many paranoia fans out there as I thought. That's too bad, it would be a great game for a pbp.

Whoa, I'd be up for it!

It is odd that no one wanted to play....

PARANOIA RULES!!!

Dark Archive

Sorry don't have the rules for this.

But if and when you run a Warhammer Fantasy PBP or Dark Heresy PBP count me in.

One thing about paranoia is that the players aren't really supposed to know the rules.

Just knowing that there are rules is at least Blue clearance....

Alright, I'm volunteering.

Glad to see some enthusiasm. However, the thing about paranoia is that you need a fairly large group to do it well. A good chunk of the game play involves players attempting to f#@# with other players. It is far less cooperative than a regular rpg. You can't trust anyone in paranoia including your fellow PCs, but that's the fun of the game. However, in order to achieve that level of paranoia you need several PCs to interact with, so I can't conceivably run this without at least four committed players. So keep checking in the thread, and if we can get a few more players we'll give it a shot.

Radavel if you want to know more about the game wikipedia has some good stuff.

Sovereign Court

I'd be excited to join. Count me in!

I might be able to get my wife and a RL friend to join. I'll find out this weekend...

What version will we be playing? 1ED? that one's the Chutzpah! West end or XP? And if we're playing XP is it dark, classic or ZAP???! LOL

Sorry, I only have any material for the Xp version. I'm leaning towards classic style.

No apologies needed sir, Classic sounds fine to me, especially via PbP...Zap! would lead to a very short PbP. I have a decent amount of Material for said Version.

For those who have looked at this thread, but don't know much about Paranoia, here a few things you should know. It is satirical, tongue and cheek game. It is not meant to be taken seriously. It is a very rules light system, and relies heavily on ruthless gm arbitration.

Here is what is required if you think you might be interested in participating:

1. A desire to have fun
2. A sense of humor
3. A desire to screw with your fellow players
4. An interest in playing a "mechanics lite" game.
5. An ability to respond with a smile to random gm cruelty towards your character (don't worry you have many clone backups)

You DO NOT need to:

1. Own any of the books
2. Know anything about the rules

Your character will be highly expendable, but also very replaceable. Your character will die many times. Sometimes your character will be killed by NPCs and random campaign violence. However, more commonly your character will be killed by your fellow players. When your character dies he will be replaced by a clone backup which will be sent by the computer to your current location very rapidly so that you can join the game again. You will have some choice in creating your character, particularly in terms of developing personality and such, but many aspects of your character will be determined by me. Examples include such fun things as: your random mutant power, and your secret society affiliation.

It's been years...well, decades, actually, since I played a good game of Paranoia. Color me interested.

Big brother is watching, ha?

Just call me "Neo."

For more info on the game, please click.

Well it looks like we've got four players interested. It would be nice to get one or two more, but four could work as a minimum.

The first PBP i ever signed up for was Paranoia. Then the ref disappeared....

I'm in too many games already. Still, so tempting. I'm a Paranoia veteran.

Hey Rad, how many games can one man play?

Have to get back to you on that one....

So tempting...

Good point, you are in a lot of games (including two of my own). Do you think you have time for anymore?

He'll make time. The best thing about Paranoia is TKs; I wouldn't want to be denied.

Has anyone seen this?

Of course, I have time.

The thing I have to get back to you on is: how many pbps I was in.

I also run two here.

The middle initial should be R for RED, the lowest Rank

Ranks are

R - red
O - orange
Y - yellow
G - green
B - blue
I - indigo
V - violet
and of course,
U - ultraviolet

And the last name is your sector, it should be three capital letters.

so GOD sector would be fine.

or DUM sector...

I've seen ASS, too -- I mean who has reffed Paranoia and never had someone come in with a character from ASS sector...?

So we can choose our security clearance?

check it out

Starting at higher levels would be up to PH...

There's also the clone number...

So Dick-R-ECT-1 would be the first in his gene line. When he dies the uncan the next one.

I just aquired almost all the Paranoia Books. Know nothing about the system as of yet except what my friends have told me. Hmmm Tempting!

No you are all Red clearance. recently promoted from infrared.

Thanks for that- full of awesome.

I reckon PH will post which ruleset we'll use. I don't have any of them here but I certainly remember all the original rules. They're pretty simple.

I'va also read 5th ed.

It's great, you can just crank them out!

The Matrix has all.

I'm going with the xp version.

Straight, Classic or Zap?

Classic

Is 5th edition the final edition put out for Paranoia? That's the rule set I just got.

It'a all here.

Oops. You want Paranoia XP or the "Little Red Book". 5th edition was the last one produced by West End Games.

Mongoose is printing the "XP" version.

I've never read XP. But I will soon.

hey guys not to distract your tread but have a question for Kruelaid

Spoiler:

hey man patrick said he got the grid he used off you. If ya still have it do ya mind if I use it and if so just where can one find it.

seekerofshadowlight wrote:

I've got all kinds. The one I gave Patrick comes of an Adobe Photoshop file. My good ones are all in Adobe Illustrator format, though.

I think I've got one on a file download service somewhere....

Can't remember where.

AHA, it was on mediafire, but it's gone. I guess they delete it after a while.

I'll root around and find it. You want .PSD?

If we use that generator we can select classic, but we still need to select point buy or straight 7.

it's cool man I was just looking for a good grid and he said to ask you.

I have one on my wife's computer.... just a few minutes.
