Or should I say 'killers' ?
Please try and tell me that second picture does evoke the memory of the classic Dragon cover where the cleric is healing the fallen fighter as the giant walks on, tied hog at waist and all ?
Except here we have two monsters who seem intent on being the last one standing. Who knew you could make that fire fearing monster from 1 ed Monster Manual look that vicious ? He *almost* looks like a mini Tarrasque.
Nice job, and par for the course.

Seems to me there's a story being told between the froghemoth image and this image.

I wonder if there is a connection?
I think it's just the recurring theme of "Valeros gets his butt kicked". There are big sections of the underdark where dinos are common but I think this second picture is from the surface world.

One is deep in the Darklands, while the other is on the surface in the Mwangi Expanse. Any similarities are probably a coincidence.

andrew berthiaume wrote:The second pic reminds me of the newer King Kong movie when Kong is kicking major dino arse lol. But both pics are awesome, as always.Excellent! Since the artist for that one (Ben Wootten) was a senior designer for the recent King Kong movie, that makes sense! ;-)
Ben Wooten? Wow, I'm usually lukewarm on his work but that is a fantastic piece!

well I can easily see why politicians would naturally gravitate to a tower of toplessness. or at least the ruling council.

Damn, you guys pull out all the stops when it comes to the art department. Major props to Ben. And I'm touched being quoted by you double J. Then again, wouldn't be a forum without atleast one post from the staff lol.

Hee, I must admit my first thought once I stopped looking at the awesome dino-froghemoth action and noticed the iconics in the foreground was "Poor Valeros never catches a break, does he?" He does look oddly old too, all those beatings must be taking their toll...
and adding my voice to the Ben Wooten props, the picture is beautifully put together, really impressive

Regarding today's (09/16/08) killer blog pic.
*sigh* I understand the reasons, but I really hate the look of Golarion's green dragons when compared to the 3.0 Green Dragon. Still, green dragons goooooo!
Really? I happen to think they look better, but then I was never a fan of the old Greens. only chromatic I didn't use at some point. they just never fit. this one seems like a good fit though. and I am loving the leaping monk.

So, of course, they're the only Chromatic not to get a Legends, huge or larger, miniature.
Doesn't it just always work out that way? :P
although I'm actually upset they didn't get one either since now I'm never goign to be able to complete my rock band "Chromatic Bliss". (I was gonna go with Cromatic Rage, but I prefer the juxtaposition of evil dragons with bliss)

I almost hate to admit it, but I still like the old Elmore Dragonlance style dragons. There was something that was just cool about the almost felinoid bodies and faces, and the swept back horns. I wish WotC would have stuck with that in 3rd edition. They just seemed to have more character and presence than the new designs do.
