Campaign Advice - Oriental Adventures Shaman in CotCT?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Sovereign Court

I have a player that wants to play an oriental adventures flavored shaman in the Curse of the Crimson Thrones path I'm gearing up to run next month. Any suggestions for fitting her in, culturally? I thought about suggesting Shoanti, but they seem a little more native americanly influenced than oriental to me. Can an oriental-flavored tribe fit in amongst the Shoanti, or does she belong somewhere else?

Thanks =)

He could come from Tian Xia, maybe from the Minkai Empire - that's where the Kaijitsu family originally came from.

The Exchange

How about the darklands...? if you think of the Darkland as that oriental setting version of Hell, then what better place for an oriental Shaman to come from.

"In sacrifice for these gifts of the spiritworld that grant me power, The river of lost souls carried me to this land. It has chosen that I remain apart from my people..."

I have a PC in my RotRL campaign that is a Shoanti Spirit Shaman, from Complete Divine. It actually works very well for the setting.

But I agree with KaeYoss, its perfectly okay to have an immigrant or expatriot from Tian Xia now living in Korvosa. There is precedent.
