Fixed cards with errata

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

So, the core set has a bit of errata. I've currently made notes on my card with a sharpie, but it isn't ideal. What I'd like to do is mess around with photoshop and actually incorporate the errata into the cards.

This would require:
1. Scanning in the card
2. Photoshopping the fixes

Now, before I do, I wanted to post here to ask if someone from Paizo can answer this - will these cards be fixed in a future print run? If so, is there any way I could get access to the images for the fixed cards so I can print them out and put them in sleeves. This will save me a day of photoshopping :)

Thanks :)

There are currently no plans to reprint any products for this line. (Doesn't mean it can't happen—but it's not on the immediate horizon.)

ok, thanks. In which case, if I ask nicely, is there any chance I can get the original jpg images to save scanning in the cards. I know this is something not normally done, but I work full-time in the games industry, so its 'safe'.

Can you drop me a private message on here, or contact me through my website www.gaming-rules.com. Thanks :)

Hmm, does this means that the reboot isnt selling? that would be disheartening as I am reallt looking forward the next box of adventures

I wouldn't know, but I'd say it seems more likely in the span of 4 Base Sets they managed to narrow down and pinpoint their expected number of sold units. And even though a "reboot" is likely to lose some old players, it's just as likely to pick some new ones along, I'd wager.

Bottomline, if the Core would need reprinting - that would mean Paizo weren't doing their job very well; or, that Core was breakaway hit, far above any estimates from the 4 Base sets before it would suggest (which it most likely isn't, and that's ok).

Hi etien,

I think it's way more efficient to sell a new adventure box than to reprint an old product, even if errated.

I also found it surprising that no reprint is planned, and I wonder if this was meant literally. It is very common in boardgame publishing to do a reprint of a game after the initial print run. In fact, it can be good to keep the initial "low" so that all the errors can be fixed in future prints.

But I don't know how many printed, or how many have sold. If they printed 100k and have only sold 1k, then yeah, maybe there will never be a reprint.

Either way, I still really want to have "fixed" cards somehow - and I'm happy to create these myself and print them off myself, but I was hoping there would be a way to do it without having to go through the manual process of scanning in the cards and fixing them manually myself.

FWIW as someone who mostly keeps up with the errata and FAQ's...I don't inherently feel many of that stuff breaks the game without the errata in your home games. Some errata make things more clear how things should work. Other errata makes things slightly stronger/weaker, and other errata closes off powerful combos but you may have never found those combos anyway.

IOW, I wouldn't worry about the errata too much. Just play the game and have fun. If something seems too powerful, unclear, or broken then check the FAQ otherwise I wowuldn't sweat it too much.

Yeah, I get that, but it's the little things. Like the Troubador is a Halfling, not a Human, so I want to photoshop the card so that it says Halfling. Currently, I've crossed it out and written Halfling on with a sharpie, but it's not ideal.
Some other changes were a bit harder to make, and I know that it isn't game breaking, but I don't want to have to keep referring to the faq. And I will be playing the game with others, and I want them to have correct cards.

Knowing what the fonts are would be good. I found an old thread with what they were in the old game. I think Dax is still in use, but not sure about the main font for card text.

Right. Print costs for books and games generally involve significantly lower unit costs as volume increases, so if you're reprinting frequently, that means your unit costs are higher than they could have been. For most products, our goal is to therefore to print enough to last for a good part of that product's expected lifetime, if not the entire lifetime.

The only PACG products we've ever reprinted were for Rise of the Runelords, which sold far faster than we expected.

The font used for nearly all of the card text in Core is Good OT Condensed.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Thanks, got the font, fiddled about. Set the width to 92%, and its a perfect match :)
