Not-so-original names in the new AP

4th Edition

WotC's new AP adventure features a dwarf named Ragnum Dourstone.

Maybe it's just me, but that sounds a lot like Ragnolin Dourstone from Paizo's AoW AP :/

Though at first glance the adventure looks more engaging than Rescue at Rivenroar[/i]. It's encouraging to see that WotC is able to learn lessons from their (often amateurish) mistakes.

I'm still reading through it but so far it's looking good, and the Cave Troll has an awesome ability.

As for your similarity thing, this AP Chapter was written by Robert J Schwalb who's a freelancer most often seen with his name in Green Ronin products, I doubt there's anything deliberate going on here.

I think I'm just poking fun. He probably saw the name long ago and doesn't realize he virtually duplicated here.

I need to figure out a way to incorporate the cave troll in my game (or at least a monster with stats identical to the cave troll). Whacking a PC with another PC and dealing more damage if they wear heavier armor is AWESOME.

Maybe he's paying homage to the Paizo AP. Could Ragnum be kin with Ragnolin? :)

I'm reminded of the NPC Dephina Moongem, who totally was plagarized off a character in a friend's game named Daisy Moonblossom. TOTAL plagarism.

WotC own all the content in Dungeon and Dragon magazines. They could rewrite the Age of Worms in its entirety, should they wish to, and would (afaik) not need to credit the original authors.

I noticed the Dourstone name quickly, because I used him as a patron in my AoW campaign. I don't mind that WotC re-uses names, because it reminds me of older, better adventures.

That troll is pure awesome source. It expresses everything which is good about 4e.
