How to use the Pathfinders?

Rise of the Runelords

Liberty's Edge

I am about to start my first RotRL campaign as a DM.
I wonder if anyone had any ideas how to incorporate the Golarion-Group PATHFINDERS into this path.
I thought about making Shalelu a member, telling the PCs about this group during gaming...
I would like to bring my PCs to the point where they want to be members of the Pathfinder Society.
Any ideas or experiences are highly appreciated. Thanx!

Liberty's Edge

I actually started my group as wannabes for the pathfinders.

Basically, rather then using the standard 'you all are in a tavern' way to meet up for them, I had them all come up with a background as to why they would be looking to join up with the organization.

I figured Magnimar, being one of the relatively newer pathfinder guilds would likely have more openings for novices then others, so all of the characters(some from sandpoint/magnimar, one from as far away as Andoran) started themselves there, being brought in for their trial and being grouped together.

Essentially, I had the team sent to sandpoint to cover the swallowtail festival, something that is probably not seen as exciting enough for a full fledged pathfinder to want to do it, but a big enough deal it should be noted. They were told that their entrance would be judged on the notes they take and how thorough they are in their explorations. It led to the group not only taking on all the things around them and studying them carefully, but also digging into rumors deeply.

We are at the end of hook mountain now and the group still regularly reports in with the head of the guild and consider themselves full members now, even if fledgling ones.

Great idea, Tarlane!
As the backgrounds are already written, this is not an option though. But I think the idea of giving them the info that theres a new Pathfinder haven in Magnimar might get them to have a look at it...
Thanx for sharing!

Found this in the section about arts and entertainments in page 59 of pathfinder two; Magnimar section;

"...Pathfinder Dr. Archisa Aparna (NG female human
bard 5), who frequently lectures on ancient Varisian monuments
on the occasions she returns to the city."

Maybe she hears about the catacombs under the glass works and comes to pay Sandpoint a little visit? This is especially handy if you hve already played Skinsaw as it means Sheriff Belor would have gone to Magnimar to request futher funding for more militia and would have given a full report regarding the recent events within the town!

EDIT:
Oh you said you just started the game? Maybe she can just be visiting Broderk Quink to find out a little more about the "old Light" ?
Rumours get around a small town like wild bush fires. Before she has time to take off her muddy boots in her room every one and his dog will know theres one of the world renowned Pathfinder members in town (even though she may not be as famous as some of the bigger stars of the society!)
