Help with a PrC or template.. or...?

3.5/d20/OGL

I have a player who has played his character as hell-bent on destroying these bad guys (Red Hand of Doom) and he 'died' the other day.

-30 plus or so... but I have a special system and he asorbed most of the damage. But, he asked about dieing and coming back as an undead set upon one goal. Then when that is finished he would die.

I couldn't think of anything that fit... anyone?

The Revenant - undead monster that comes back for just such a thing, then "dies" once it's accomplished.

Or...the 3e PrC "Ghostwalker" from Sword&Fist.

Both might fit.

The Exchange

Well, if I remember correctly, in the Fiend Folio for AD&D, Fiends A-Z, or something to that extent, there was an undead that was created through sheer force of will to avenge it's own death, and would track it's murderers down to the ends of the earth and kill them and any who helped them or tried to stop him, and once his job is complete he becomes at peace and simply crumbles away. As for what he can do, that is up to your imagination, but a story of his sheer determination would probably be the best route to have without outside intervention, or even divine intervention, and would probably appeal to your player's sense of self-importance.

Like Eye said, Revenant in Pathfinder #2 is perfect for this.

Hah! I knew I was thinking Revenant for some reason. We mentioned the word in conversation.. but I couldn't find anything doing an online search... guess I should've started with my books.

Thanks

I *think* there's a PrC in Exalted Deeds called Risen Martyr or something like that - it has the prereq that the character has died. I can't remember how it works, since I'm away from the books, but it might be worth a look.

The PC has to have died a Martyr. It is really rather strict arena of PC actions. A Martyr is a person who chooses to be slain rather than renounce one's religious beliefs.
