Ka'kara looks thoughtful for a moment, "Well, we have to pass that water devil all the time anyway, so I say let's take a moment to deal with it before returning to the goblin's lair. We can deal with the dragon after we get all that out of the way, what do you say Lenna?"
"I have prepared spells for taking on the water devil. Gather round while I heal any remaining wounds."

Hella considers the proposed attack. "I can attempt to catch the trickster unawares, but after seeing the fight it put up against our mightiest warriors, I fear I will not last long once I make my move. Perhaps I should scout out the cavern and return with intelligence of its disposition. Then I could join in the assault when Ka'Kara and Sandros charge it."
Hella reconsiders, "I seem to remember that cavern having no natural light source, which would make it hard to move quietly. Our best plan of attack may be to simply move in quickly and catch it off guard."

That brings a genuine smile (and a giggle) to the pale halfling's face. "Maybe. But we didn't know him long enough to find out. He had an amazing head of orange hair. He had more hair than I do!"

I merely suggest that I go with you until you are ready to go the village. I have already come from the Roadside Inn going back there would take me in the wrong direction." With a calm expression he looks up at Ka'kara,"And no I have no use for weapons."
"You'll pardon Ka'kara's emotion, but as she says, we recently lost one of our members to a goblin horde just below these caverns and he was not the first soul who died in our efforts. It's a dangerous place we have found ourselves in, but we are seeking a lost soul that we believe to be somewhere within this complex. We have already come across our friend Grosh the ogre, a dragon, a water demon, an evil goblin priest, and your band of kobolds."
"If you are not looking for adventure, Jiro, ours is not the company to seek. If you are looking for reward, whether it be spiritual or material, then you are more than welcome to join us. However, I would warn you that if what we have seen thus far is any precursor to that which lies ahead on our journeys, it would be best that you be able to defend yourself from harm."

"Please your concerns are appreciated," Jiro's features settle into a stern fatherly expression,"but I will not hear any more talk about leaving these caves if you have a friend who may yet live. I would not have that on my conscience any more than you would young man. Now continue planning your expedition into the caves and I will make some tea."
As he moves to the fire to see about the tea he passes Roylenna and places a hand on her shoulder. "Do not worry yourself young one. My brother and have not spoken to each other in many years. I was merely going to our families estates to pay my final respects. But magic? No I've never had any talent for such things." I think Hella is right and hitting it hard and fast is probably the best way to go. I'll just use one of my javelins to spear the thing while it's in the water. Just like lake fishing. If Sandros and I can get it between us than I think it will be hard pressed to escape."

To the planners, she points out, "It appeared that my fire was effective against him - and I can cast my bigger spell on Ka'kara -- I think longer arms might be a benefit against him."

Proteus will go back through the plans, explaining his ideas for entering the lair of the water demon. Once he's done, he looks at Jiro, "It's up to you what role you want to play in this fight since it is not yours. There will be no hard feelings if you want to stay up on the ledge out of the upcoming battle."

You fasten the hook on a rock outcrop and carefully descend. All is still in the cavern and there is no sign of the mephit. Proteus works his magic on Sandros and Ka'kara as planned and you all gather below the ledge. Now what?

Ka'kara will signal Sandros with her hand to follow and will wade through the water to the island she jumped to the first time she was here (she takes her time hoping it'll take the bait and attack her here in the water where it feels safe). That seemed to anger the little demon, let's see if it gets it's attention this time.
Jiro seems to have no problem tagging along with the others as set out to subdue the daemon. He seems to be quite nimble for his advanced age as he navigates the ledge and rope without much trouble. He waits calmly beside Proteus and Roylenna as Sandros and Ka'kara move forward.
Roylenna (and I imagine Hella) need to be within 30' of the action for her contributions to count the most, so she will wait until Ka'Kara has committed to the water and move as stealthily as she can to about 25' from the barbarian, trying to keep pace.

Sandros tosses the piece of leather into the air and says, "Tirith ogollor," moving his off-hand rapidly in a series of graceful gestures.
Sandros lets slip his pack near the cave entrance, muttering, "Gonna get wet again, I know it..." He then moves along the shore, paralleling Ka'kara's position in the water.
Jiro will quietly (stealth 1d20+6=19) move to 068030.
Hella will definitely be using stealth:

As the creature surfaces, she shoots:

Roylenna's first ray of fire goes wide, but before the mephit has time to disappear under the surface she fires again and scores a solid hit. The mephit screams in pain and fury.

Now that he can see the mephit, Sandros loops around toward the southeast, turning back north and heading straight for the water's edge. When he gets there, he leaps into a long, low curve, aiming to land in the water behind the mephit.
