Sandros lunges and sinks his blade deep as the troll turns toward Ka'kara.
bless+flank rapier attack: 1d20+11=24, 1d6+2=5

Incredibly the distraught troll misses all its attacks. My dice hate me. All it manages to do is put a few dents in Ka'kara's armor.
Nice, the gods are smiling upon Ka'kara. She was ready for a world of hurt. You really had to be rolling incredibly crappy to miss her.
Foregoing her usual brutal brute force attack Ka'kara hesitates a moment to allow the trolls momentum from it's lunge to take it by her. Bringing her sword around she attempts to thrust the entirety of the great blade through the back of its skull.
bless+flank+rage greatsword attack: 1d20+13=17, 2d8+14=27 Heh, had a sneaking suspicion, didn't power attack this round, and my gut lead me right. Would have missed.

Under your combined assault the troll goes down, and Chris is quick to cauterize their wounds, making them permanent.
That's 530 xp for you, ladies and gentlemen, and there is 265 gp in the pot.
Sadly Sandros finds that he has pressing business to attend to and bids you goodbye.
What now?
Ka'kara Furyheart
Wiping the green troll ichor from her blade with a cloth, "Now those were worthy enemies! I'll have to see if I can make some green ink for a tattoo representing this battle." Looking off toward where Sandros distant form was disappearing on the horizon, "It saddens me to see such a skilled blade brother go. Hopefully, we'll meet again....well, on to the caves then!"

*Sniff, sniff* Proteus, it's just you and I now. Just us from the original five.
Roylenna stands, jaw hanging, as Sandros suddenly departs. "But, but..."
She walks over to the giantess and leans against her calf, most likely. After a while, she goes to the troll's tollpot, dividing it into 5? equal piles. "I believe you asked if we shared the results. There's no reason not to." She looks down the road for a moment before passing 53 gp worth of coin to each of the others.
"Yes, our friend is probably missing us. I'll have to bring up a tale of truly trollish terror," with that she winks at Ka'kara.

hehe, as I was writing that, it was hard to believe you hadn't been there from the beginning. We've had our share of deaths and departures, for certain. No offense intended to the excellent folks that we travel with now, just playing a maudlin little halfling. She'll get over it.
Is it cool that I assume that Sandros does not take a share of the easily-divisible-by-5 loot?

Mahaffy wrote:No need to use scroll , let's just go to the inn . It'll cost lessSounds good. Hope they let Robin stay at the inn.
We have three healers in the group, so no need to burn your scrolls if we're not in the midst of combat. And staying in the cave costs less than the inn...
I would vote for Proteus' channeling for healing purposes.
Black Tom
Yeah, staying in the cave costs less and they will admit Robin. I need to get this show back on the road somehow, so let's press on.
You go back to the caves to recuperate. The ogre frowns a bit at the sight of Mahaffy but nothing a little halfling girl sweet talking can't fix.
Consider yourselves at full spells and hp. The big question is now: where do you want to go next?

A little hard to say without a map. No, no, that's not a shot at you WoRsT. I appreciate everything you do and know you'll get to it when you can, just seeing if BT can maybe describe what our current choices are.
Ka'kara is feeling quite energetic this morning and does some exercises to loosen up for their days exploration. She especially enjoyed demonstrating the battle with the trolls to the ogre as Lenna described it last night. "Lets continue around the lake from the ledge where the skeletal bear was. What do you think?"
Black Tom
I think most of your choices are already on the map. What's missing is basically part of the lake and the dragon's den. You could explore the rest of the lakeshore or go north (or whatever direction is up on the map) from the dragon's lair (where Hella entered the dungeon). Your other choices (barring a fight with the ratmen) are all on the second level and that map is up to date.

Aw, you guys missed me! ;D
I apologize for my sudden and unexplained absence, but my Internet was basically out of commission for two weeks and my new job was kind of overwhelming me. I have (mostly) reliable DSL again, however, and things are calming down a bit at work, so I'm hesitantly returning to the forums. I won't be picking any of my GMing gigs back up (sorry Ainvar) but I'd like to get back into some of the player stuff I've been missing, if Tom will permit it...

Welcome back!!!
Proteus wrote:"How are we all feeling?" Proteus asks the group. "Are my services needed?"Well Robin is hurt quite bad. only 2 hp left out of 22
Per BT, we are to consider ourselves at full spells and hp and ready to go for the day ahead. Between the three (?) healers in the group, I'm sure your companion is ready for the next troll that comes along. I'm assuming that Proteus has channeled as necessary to bring everyone to full and Roylenna's bit of spellcasting will just top one off as necessary.
"I can aid Robin, Chris, should he need it. But you'll have to let me know -- I tend to watch these two," and she gestures toward Sandros, whom she favors with a smile, and Ka'kara, with whom she's discussing the finer points of designing her new green tattoo.
Um, Sandros, we didn't save you a cut of the coin from the troll's kettle. Is that a problem?
Ka'kara Furyheart
Seeing concern in Roylenna over whether Sandros' should have received a share of the troll gold or not, Ka'kara hands over her share to him 53 gold pieces, "I am sure you will put it to better use than I will." She leaves the gold in his hands and moves on before he can protest taking a few practice swings with her new blade.
Black Tom
There is no more exit on the far side of the lake, except the stream, which looks possible to wade (if someone will carry Roylenna). There are also a couple of openings in the cave wall on the other side. If you're afraid to wade, you could always go around.
Ka'kara Furyheart
Ka'kara feeling confident with her ability to swim picks up the halfling if she doesn't protest and wades across the stream, "Let's see where these tunnels go." She looks back curious to see the dwarves reaction to water.
Not sure whether you meant we could wade down the stream or just across it.
Black Tom
Not sure whether you meant we could wade down the stream or just across it.
You could do either if you are so inclined. The stream is about 10 feet wide and not deeper than that Mahaffy would be able to brave it (although not without a certain discomfort).

Ok, across the stream it is then.
Roylenna Brenoien
Yes, actually the cave widens and there are some sort of shelves on both sides of the stream. You can even make out some kind of door to the left, although there is a slight mist hovering over the water.
"Ooh, Ka'kara, there's something in there! Are we going to look?"
Black Tom
As you wade down the stream, suddenly a sickly green ray shoots out of the mist, and only Ka'kara's barbarian reflexes allows her to avoid it.
Searching for the point of origin, you see a small vague clawed shape emerge from the mist floating on the water. Time to roll for initiative.
Ka'kara Furyheart
"MIST DEMON!", Having lost her stable footing Ka'kara takes a few moments struggling against the streams current but that's all it takes for the mist demon to strike again...
Initiative: 1d20+0=2

"Mist demon? Who was it that talked about a mist demon? Hey, don't do that Ka'kara!"
Assuming Roylenna's relatively close to first:
Heavenly Fire Attack 1d20+6=16
Note: She's not overly concerned with the range, so if he's too far away, she'll still make the attack. It's a warning shot across the bow, so to speak.
