Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Re: Sandros, I presume he would cast Mage Armor and draw his weapon as he moves toward the troll, stopping just out of its range, attempting to position himself for a flank next round. I'll let someone else make the actual post, though.

I will be out of town with access questionable, so please DMPC Roylenna as necessary. Her general plan will be Cure Light Wounds with her Bard slots as necessary and Heavenly Fire as often as she can otherwise.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Sounds like what Sandros would do so lets go with what Roylenna said. See discussion thread for more on this.

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

Mahaffy close with the troll trying vainly to hit it with his axe
Att 6 Dam 3

Given his speed , I don't think that mahaffy can gain flanking this round but he'll try to position himself to just have a 5 foot move next round in order to gain one

Male Human Druid 2

Robin attacks:
1d20+7=26
Damage:1d6+2=5
Trip attack1d20+7=23
Can Chris get close to his wolf and heal? Without getting hit?

Male Human Druid 2
Chris 'Wing Commander' Plauget wrote:

If chris can't or if Robin trips the roll Chris will cast flameblade and move up to the troll and Robin.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Sandros speaks an arcane word and is instantly surrounded by a shimmering field of force. Carefully he approaches the troll, looking for an opening.

Robin takes a chunk out of the troll, but it's far too big and heavy to be tripped that easily. Chris casts a spell and moves to touch his friend, sending healing energies coursing through the animal.

Then the troll acts. Its wounds start to close before your eyes, and it roars in pain and fury. Almost absent-mindedly it claws Robin for 11 points of damage, as you would swat a mosquito, while with its other hand it grabs the giant barbarian by the neck and chokes her for 23 points. Annoyed that she's still alive it nibbles her arm for another 4 points of damage.

You're up, in any order. Most of you should be able to get some flanking by this time.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Her vision dimming as the trolls crushing grip cuts off her air, Ka'kara attempts to bring her blade down in a cleaving motion to sever the things arm before she loses consciousness.

Bless+Rage+Flank+SurpriseAccuracy MW Greatsword strike: 1d20+13=30, 2d8+18=25 Once again forgot to add in the enlarge strength bonus to damage. Damage is 27.

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

Mahaffy move opposite the big girl and strikes the troll shouting
'Let go of the boss , you big dummy!'
Att 19 Damage 4

Minimum damage! It was nice knowing you guys

Male Human Druid 2

Since I didn't post the CLW for Robin, I do it now, CLW:1d8+2=5.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Posting for Sandros

Taking advantage of the trolls distraction with the barbarian and wolf Sandros strikes, hoping the thing has a heart to pierce with his rapier.

Blessed+Flanked Rapier attack: 1d20+11=20, 1d6+2=6

Female Human Barbarian 7

Posting for Roylenna at her previous request.

Roylenna runs up behind Ka'kara as she struggles with the creature and places her hand on one of the barbarian's giant calves releasing healing energies. Her voice taking a commanding tone can be heard over the din of battle, "Don't you dare step back!"

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8+1=8

Male Human Druid 2

Since robin is betwwen Chris and the troll, Chris takes a 5 ft step away and casts flame blade he then shouts
Back down Robin! Handel animal:1d20+7=18. Close call, but robin breaks off from combat
I guess the troll got reach so robin takes a 5 foot step away from the troll using total defense.

Male Human (Alryan) Cleric 3

Proteus also uses cure light wounds on Ka'kara.

Cure light wounds (1d8+1=6)

Proteus wrote:

Isn't it 1d8+3, or did you use a scroll?

Cleric Lvl 3, that's 2d6 when you channel. Soon we need it when DM whip us all out ;-)

Male Human (Alryan) Cleric 3

Used a scroll. As far as I can tell only the wolf and Ka'kara has taken damage. I was waiting to make my channel energy more useful in case someone else takes some damage.

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)
Mahaffy wrote:

If you are "opposite the big girl," wouldn't your damage include sneak attack? Or did you include that already? Please say you forgot it.

EDIT: Never mind, I see you included it. Argh!

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

As Sandros stabs the troll in a sensitive area, it finally topples over. But its wounds are healing before your very eyes.

At the same time, a great crashing in the bushes announces the arrival of another troll, who doesn't seem one bit amused by the treatment you accorded its fellow.

The new troll is about 30 feet away from you. The first troll is prone and out of it for now.

You have one round of actions before the trolls act.

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

" Christ , have your beast ravage the first one while we deal with the new one ! "

With this , Mahaffy begins to move not exactly towards the troll but a little to the left to prepare a pincer movement .

Male Human Druid 2
Proteus wrote:

a wise and good call :-)

Male Human Druid 2
Mahaffy wrote:

Robin attack this one.

Handle animal: 1d20+7=16 Robin attack 1d20+7=8 no!! it's a natural 1
Chris melee touch attack with flameblad and damage:1d20+4=15 and 1d8+1=7
DM: Can Chris get flank bonus with Robin?

Female Human Barbarian 7

Seeing the new threat, Ka'kara reaches behind her and pulls out a javelin. Hefting it she flings it at her new target only to be thrown off by the dizzying rush of blood back into her head as the first trolls grip slackens.

To hit: 1d20+3=5, 1d6+6=7

FYI for healers:

Spoiler:
at 23 of 36 hp

I believe that since the first one is down , each hit on him is a critical automatic hit with sneak attack added

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat
robin wrote:

Not quite, but since his effective dex is 0, he suffers a -5 on AC. Also if you spend a full-round action you can give him a Coup de grace, which is an automatic crit. In either case you get sneak attack damage.

I didn't quite understand Chris. Is "this one" supposed to mean the prone troll or the new one?

the prone troll

Roylenna takes a step up to the prone troll, concentrates for a moment, and attempts to burn what passes for a brain right out of his head.

Not positive that's even possible with a ray attack, but there it is. 5-ft step to get adjacent (I think) and attempt Coup de Grace using Heavenly Fire.

Crit Heavenly Fire damage including Point Blank Shot bonus 2d6+4=11

As she does this, she addresses the still-standing troll in Giant:

Spoiler:
"Just how eager are you to die today, Knax? I haven't even started using my big fire magic yet and Nix. Maybe you should take him and find easier prey somewhere else."

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

That is a creepy picture indeed.

Chris's flame bites into the flesh of the troll and a disgusting smell like burnt rubber spreads. It gets worse as Roylenna kneels by the head of the troll and sears it with her Fire. The troll shudders but its other wounds are still healing.

Proteus and Sandros are up.Would someone post for Sandros, please.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Sandros intones some arcane syllables while tracing a faint glowing line along his rapier that fades away.

Casts critical strike. Does it make his next strike a automatic critical?

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)
Ka'kara Furyheart wrote:

Not quite. Here's a quick summary: It means he does an extra 1d6 to a flanked creature or one denied their Dex bonus, the crit range on his weapon is doubled (as with keen edge, and he gains a +4 insight bonus to confirm a critical threat.

It's also a swift action (so he still has a standard and a move action left to him) and only lasts for one round.

EDIT:

Yeah, that is a pretty creepy image, isn't it? Especially from our kind-hearted little girl. I think it's the influence of those adventurers she's been hanging around with. ;-)

BT:

Spoiler:
I just realized my earlier snarky statement to Knax was incomplete. The whole of it should have been, "Just how eager are you to die today, Knax? I haven't even started using my big fire magic yet and Nix is already laid low. Maybe you should take him and find easier prey somewhere else." Emphasis added to indicate missing text.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Much as I love Roylenna, the rules lawyeer in me wants to see an Intimidate check (with an unspecified bonus for burning the brother's face off) to adjudicate the troll's reaction.

I hope the good bluff helps, too. I don't think there's a synergy bonus available to me, so it's a straight CHA check, right?

Intimidate 1d20+3=12

EDIT: Oh, foo. I just realized I never pasted in my bluff roll from earlier, either. It was a 24 or you can roll a replacement for me. +8 bonus

Female Human Barbarian 7

Ok, well I guess it doesn't make much sense for him to do that yet so he'll hold his action to do that and attack if the troll charges.

Male Human (Alryan) Cleric 3

Proteus will back up a bit and wait to see the reaction of the troll that just came out of the woods.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The troll pauses for a minute, but then its face contorts in anger, and with a roar it charges.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Sandros' held action. Since he doesn't have flank yet he'll hold off on the critical strike til next round.

1d20+9=15, 1d6+2=3 Hmmm, not great. Well maybe because the things charging...

Sandros Takes a quick jab, then dances to the side to get better position.

Blessed rapier attack: 1d20+9=15, 1d6+2=3

Female Human Barbarian 7

Not sure if Ka'kara gets an AOO for where ever it ends up (she's got a 10' reach). If she does...

Bless+Enlarge greatsword power attack: 1d20+8=12, 2d8+20=23 Well, that's not good.

EDIT:

Spoiler:
Hmmmm, not sure she could power attack on a AOO since she hadn't attacked last round. So that would be a 15 to hit and only 17 damage if that's the case.

EDIT EDIT:

Spoiler:
For that matter, I am not sure she is even raging at this stage. How long did it pause before it charged? How many rounds or was it a full minute? Sooooo....if that is also true than were back down to a 13 to hit and only 13 damage.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

The pause was meant to be negligible. Just an unfortunate turn of phrase there. The troll has reach, too, so there won't be any AoO for Ka'kara.

The troll takes a swing at Sandros, but it's obviously blinded by its rage so it stumbles and misses its smaller and much more nimble opponent.
A natural 1. Just figures.

You're all up.

Male Human Druid 2

Chris and Robin work on the prone troll so it dies.
Chris:1d20+4=17 & 1d8+1=4
HAndled anmimal: 1d20+7=18
Robin: 1d20+7=22 & 1d6+2=6

Do Chris and Robin score a automatic crit when the troll is out?

As a full round action, you can use a Coup de Grace action, which allows you to do critical damage and force the victim to make a save or die. (At least, that's my recollection of the old rules. That might not be correct for Pathfinder rules.)

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Since I had time and you made me wonder, here it is according to the Beta:

Coup de Grace:

Spoiler:
As a full-round action, you can use a melee weapon to deliver a coup de grace to a helpless opponent. You can also use a bow or crossbow, provided you are adjacent to the target.

You automatically hit and score a critical hit. If the defender survives the damage, he must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + damage dealt) or die. A rogue also gets her extra sneak attack damage against a helpless opponent when delivering a coup de grace.

Delivering a coup de grace provokes attacks of opportunity from threatening opponents.

You can’t deliver a coup de grace against a creature that is immune to critical hits. You can deliver a coup de grace against a creature with total concealment, but doing this requires two consecutive full-round actions (one to “find” the creature once you’ve determined what square it’s in, and one to deliver the coup de grace).

Female Human Barbarian 7

Sandros moves to flank the thing, intoning a spell to guide his blade to a vital organ, and strikes. It turns out trolls don't have many vital organs.....

bless+flank+critical strike rapier attack: 1d20+11=19, 1d6+2=3 blah! grrrrrr IC!

Female Human Barbarian 7

With Sandros buzzing around stinging the beast, Ka'kara takes advantage of it's distraction and lands a telling blow.

bless+flank+power attack+surprise accuracy greatsword attack: 1d20+13=29, 2d8+20=32

Note: His Critical Strike spell entitles him to 1d6 extra damage to a flanked opponent.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Extra critical strike damage: 1d6=4 Thanks Roylenna :)

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

That leaves Proteus, Roylenna and Mahaffy to act. And Chris might want to roll for a Coup de Grace with the Flame Blade. Robin can't do lethal damage, so he can only keep the troll unconscious.

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)
Ka'kara Furyheart wrote:

Us girls got to stick together. ;-)

"Chris, your blade appears to be working against his wounds - see how Robin's bites grow closed? You keep working on this one and I'll go help the others with my Fire."

Roylenna moves to get into 30' range of the other troll, intending to fire between the flanking warriors.

Heavenly Fire Attack 1d20+6=24, Damage 1d6+2=4

Male Human Druid 2

Coup de Grace:1d8+1=4

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat
Chris 'Wing Commander' Plauget wrote:

I suppose you mean me to add that to your original roll for 8 points of damage, which forces a Fortitude save vs. 18.

Chris's flaming blade bites into the neck of the troll, but still it refuses to die. At least the wounds don't close and it's far from regaining consciousness.

Roylenna's fire sears the other troll, and those wounds don't close either.

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

Mahaffy close with the troll trying to achieve flank with Sandros
Att 19 damage 9
If not flanking Att 17 Damage 8

Trolls are giant , arent' they . Yeah for old dwarvish + 4AC

Female Human Barbarian 7
Mahaffy wrote:

Your probably more likely to be flanking with Ka'kara seeing as she is large sized at the moment. She should be able to provide flank for you, Sandros, and whoever else is attacking.

Male Human (Alryan) Cleric 3

Proteus delays seeing what damage the troll may cause.
