Howdy all,
I am in desperate need of a mini adventure to get a valuable artifact into the hands of my players. Now, I want to give them a cool treasure that I've designed - which happens to be a crown - but I want to make them work for it.
Once the players finish their current dungeon crawl, there will be a grand feast held by the Lord Mayor of the town they're currently saving. In the adventure, it's simply written as a quick RP encounter followed by some gold. I want to make it into something more.
SO, what I am looking for is a little mini side-quest adventure in the form up a quick mystery plot at this grand feast. First, it would involve the PCs meeting all of the suspects beforehand during the party. Then news would spread that the Crown was stolen! The doors will be sealed, and it will be up to the PC's to find the thief.
I would simply write up the quest myself, but it's not as easy as writing up a few combat encounters since it involves clues and fleshed out NPC personalities. I was wondering if anyone knew of such an already made module that I could download, if anyone had made such a quest themselves, or if people could just give me some helpful tips. A murder mystery module or something similar would work fine as well. I could modify where needed. Thanks!

So, all you're looking for is NPC "personalities" at a party to use in your own adventure -- and then fight?
Okay. In ascending order,
Four From Cormyr is a 2E adventure series. Number 3, if I recall, has the PCs invited to a party or social gathering and is pretty solid. A good number of NPCs for you at a party.
"The Prince of Redhand" by the Richard Pett is a party with an evil host. Good stuff. Check Dungeon 134 or thereabouts.
There's a B. Matt Conklin (aka Great Green God here at Paizo) adventure, something like "Menagerie Something" in the late 90s or early 100s of Dungeon that is even better for what you're looking for. A noble throws a party and shows off his prisoner albino midgets or something (god, it's been so long I don't remember exactly -- but it's what you're looking for).
And the best thing for what you're looking for -- the one that I think would be perfect is -- (what's the SCAP right before "Strike on the Shatterhorn?? -- or maybe it is "Strike on the Shatterhorn"). Anyway, the PCs go to Vhalantru's mansion and crash a party full of villains. Each villan has a background write-up and a stat block. Check Dungeon 113 or 114 or 115.

Perhaps any of the following can be adapted:
53 - Spellbook Masquerade
59 - Wedding Day
129 - Murder in Oakbridge (adapted to a single manor/estate)
131 - Prince of Red Hand
140 - Fall of Graymalkin Academy
143 - Mask of Diamond Tears
However, you might be better off just ripping off an old Sherlock Holmes story.
HTH,

Sounds like you're confusing ...
#126 - Menagerie
... and ...
#142 - Masque of Dreams
The latter might work as well. In fact, it might be ideal.

Thanks for the help all! Sadly - despite owning 30-40 dragon magazines, I don't have access to a single dungeon magazine, and have no access to these adventures.
I was able to get Four From Corymyr off the D&D website as a download, but the third adventure - while tempting - was based so heavily on the FR setting that it was near impossible to convert.
