Two-handed weapons

4th Edition

The Exchange

Sorry for the really dumb question, but where in the PHB does it say what the damage bonus is for using a two-handed weapon? I simply cannot find it, but I know there is one (as halflings don't get it). Thanks.

If a one handed weapon is "versatile" (like a bastard sword), you get a +1 dmg bonus when using it two handed. If not, you get no benefit. That's it.

A two-handed weapons damage bonus, as it were, is supposed to be reflected in their increased damage die. Power Attack, however, does do more damage with a two-hander; so do a number of Fighter powers. That's about it though.

In 4th Edition, there are no bonuses for using a two handed weapon. The weapons themselves do more damage (2d6 vs 1d8), but you get no strength bonus for using a two handed weapon. Versitile weapons are one handed weapons that can be used with two hands, and they recieve a +1 to damage when wielded this way. Also, the power attack feat gives a slightly better bonus to damage with a two handed weapon. Hope this helps!

Thanks - so I was looking up 2H weapons and actually the rule is about versatile weapons. Many thanks.
