I got this message when I tried to access the main D&D forums:
"Artifact, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
You are attempting to use a feature that employs the search engine. Search is currently disabled on the forums

If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."
I've been a regular poster for years, and as far as I know, I'm a member in good standing. None of the reasons given seem to apply to me (my account hasn't been disabled), so its prolly safe assume there's more massive board glitches.
Since they called me by name, I was kinda worried at first, but apparently I'm not the only one having problems (which is nice to know ;)). Guess I'll have to view and post on the Ecology article later.

I can access DDI just fine. Nice article.
I am chomping at the bit though for the first adventure in the Scales of War Adventure path.
It wasn't until they updated their software (and closed down a few backdoors) that I had any problems. Now I think I'll have to make a new account. :(
I'm definitely interested in checking out the new AP myself. I've mentioned running it a time or two so if it's good I might have 18 modules of game coming my way ...

Does anyone have a suggestion for how
Hurl Breath [Dragonborn]
Prerequisites: Dragonborn, dragon breath
racial power
Benefit: When you use your dragon breath power, you can hurl it as an area attack instead of using it as a close blast. You create an orb of energy that explodes in a burst 2 with a range of 10 squares.
Would affect the feat Enlarged Dragon Breath? I was thinking Area 4.
Suggestions ?

Personally, I would make it a Burst 3.

Yah, I had no trouble logging in and never have. Not sure what's causing so many problems for you guys.
I also am really glad they added new breath weapon feats for the Dragonborn. It gives you a lot more options for such a intigral part of the race, and for enemy dragonborn, and they are quite cool changes to the basic ability.

I don't think that Enlarged Dragon Breath applies to this feat; when you use your breath weapon, its an either/or proposition.

It doesnt per se. But it wouldnt make sense that if your regular breath weapon is enlarged that the breath created by this feat would be similarly enlarged?

Since your breath weapon is already enlarged wouldnt it be safe/logical to say it would still be so?

I would like to agree...since the Hurl Breath power seems to scale the Dragon Breath down by 1, I would think Hurling an Enlarged Dragon Breath would also scale it down by 1 (from 5 to 4).
What I am wondering about is how powerful this becomes.
A normal Dragonborn affects 9 squares with their dragon breath.
If the Dragonborn takes the Enlarge Dragon Breath power, this ups it to 25 squares.
If they take the Hurl Dragon Breath power they can affect 25 squares at range.
Add in the Enlarge power to that, even reducing it to 4, the power now affects 81 squares! Am I doing my math right? Burst 4 goes 4 squares out in all directions from the target square, correct. Making this a 9 x 9 blast?
Throw in Adaptable Breath, Admixture Breath and Empowered Dragon Breath and you have a PC that, at 14th level, can do an area effect that affects 81 squares, does 2D10+Con Modifier damage and can be of two different energy types at the same time (thereby bypassing most resistances).
I know what PC I am going to make!

This is why I think Lensman suggested Burst 3 which would make it 36 squares. This is a pretty beefy area of effect. I also think Burst 4 is a 7 by 7 so 49 squares.
Not that it fits their elemental flavor, but wouldnt it be fun if you could have a dragon breath that did Radiant or Necrotic with its breath?
Larry, what class will your PC be?

I never signed up. Just didn't feel right to. I hate giving out personal info, knowing that its another database entry on me floating around out there. But I did use 2 backdoors to look at stuff - the pdf true mentioned above, and /files/articlename.pdf - neither of which work now. Oh well.
Well, the only REAL info you need to give is maybe your email address. And you could just go sign up for a free Hotmail account (or whatever people use for free accounts nowadays) for it. If you don't want to give details about yourself, do what I do ... lie. Lots of place think I'm Joe Schmoe born January 1st, [insert year to make me 18]. Works out pretty well. ;)

Page 272 talks about Burst and Blast. It states that a burst starts in an origin square and extends in all directions to a specified number of squares from its origin square.
So Burst 3 would be actually by 49 squares (3 squares out from the origin makes it 7 by 7) and Burst 4 would be 9 by 9, or 81 squares. Either one is nice!
As for my PC, I am torn. I am DMing KoTS, but another player has agreed to switch out on the next module. We are simply going to meta-game the PC switch to give me a chance to play.
I like what I have read of the Warlord, but we don't have one in the current campaign, so I have no real-game experience to judge it by.
Another thought I had was to make a Shaman like character. It would be a Ranger, but with the Ritual Caster feat and possibly multi-classing into Wizard and taking either Thunderwave or Ray of Forst as an Encounter power to stick with the whole nature-theme of the Shaman.

Uh ... I better get outta here! :runs away:

I played a Warlord briefly before he was ignomiously cut down (Irontooth you Goblin-y bastard!) but had a verifiable TON of fun with him before he fell. You get lots of abilities to shift your friends around and give them the chance to set up flanks/move out of the thick of things. Adequate healing in general, and not bad martial skills yourself (although without allies nearby, almost all of your abilities lose something).
Plus, I loved insulting people as I healed them with my Inspiring Words, but perhaps thats more of a RP thing than how the Warlord plays. ;)
Edit: Didn't know if you were aware, but Shaman is actually a Leader class coming out next March in the PHB II. Just FYI! :)

In our current group we have a ranger who has the Crucial Advice power. This was quickly renamed to Annoying Advice. "No...Don't do it that way! You are doing that all wrong...let me show you...again"
