Are there any plans for free online content or upgrades? Articles on different Pathfinder classes? Articles dealing with the specific changes in the system, and how both DMs and Players can work them into there games? The options are limitless, and would go a long way to promoting the Pathfinder RPG with a bit of extra umph. Even if access was restricted to subscribes of the Pathfinder magazine, still great value.
How about an art gallery? Pathfinder has some very exquisite artwork that I would love to be able to use as handouts in my games. One of WoTC website features for 3.5 that I truelly loved was the Free Art Gallery. Very nice and easy access too artwork that I used extensively in my campaigns. With the very unique feel of Pathfinders artwork style, it would be a boon to actually have access pieces of artwork that reflect that style.

Paizo doesn't lock most of the pictures in the pdfs. So you can easily copy the pictures, maps (without text), etc. out of Paizo's products into your image program of choice and print them out.

The blog is almost what you want.
Awesome, took me a few moments to track the blog down. Never new it existed. Its great, thanks for the tip.
Im still hoping for more Online Content though... lol. As a DM thiers nothing that makes me happier then quality "free" online content. Have to pinch those pennies after all.

I have exactly zero experience in working with PDFs, I will look into this though. Any tips...

A random access Paizo "Gallery". You can find most anything there. It's sort of random but you can search.
Edit: Actually that's missing tons of stuff. Worth a browse though

Why are most of those in German??
Uhm, I think you've just found our german blog translations :)
It's a little project some german fans started a while ago (see This Thread for the origins) at the biggest german DnD related board dnd-gate.de (and some other german rpg boards). That would also explain why not all pics can be found this way. We're not able to translate all the paizo blog awesomeness as fast as it gets posted, so we have to concentrate a bit on the things we find the most interesting.

Oh, actually it's not as bad there. At least it wasn't until the 4E disaster which unluckily succeeded in dividing the community.
And it is a german board which means that civility, politeness and some sense of humor aren't in the Top 5 of necessarily-to-be-expected behavior.
But to be fair, there are also some great people which would make a fine addition to the Paizo boards.

All I can say is that I was there a week or something and then threw away my key, metaphorically speaking. Some of the "lords of the boards", as it were, didn't seem to think that if you disagree with someone, you might be wrong, and anyway, politeness is useful.
Might only be a couple of idiots, but since they were so vocal (without anyone stepping in), but I didn't think they were worth my time.

I don't post in too many German boards, so I don't know whether that's true, but I find it somewhat hard to believe that all we Germans are humourless, rude jerks.

Some of the "lords of the boards",...
I'd guess but I won't do any namecalling.
(without anyone stepping in)
That may be the main problem. It has changed a bit but I remember former versions of the Gate's netiquette, which placed a great importance on grammar and orthography, but didn't mention politeness with more than a sentence or so. So if you forgot to use majuscules, you'd have quite a hard time with other users. If you forgot to be polite, not so.

I don't believe this for a second either. What I think though, and this is quite a difference to what we have here on the Paizo boards, is that if you want to belong to the Lords of the boards in a german forum, being a rude jerk quite often proves to be very helpful (as long as your opinion doesn't differ too far from what the admins of said board think).
On the other hand, Paizo's maybe a worldwide exception to this state of affairs. ;)

Wouldn't remember any names, anyway.

Germans really shouldn't strive to be Grammar Nazis, but it wasn't it. I usually make an effort to use proper grammar. Doesn't mean I don't make errors, but i dont write like diz cos i dont think its cute at all.
If I recall correctly, it was about the quality of German D&D translations.

These boards sure are exceptional.

This was long before Complete Divine. It was back when *shudder* Amigo was still responsible (in every sense of the word) for the Translations.

I still fail to see how Amigo was worse than FuS. FuS were the main reason I started to use english supplements. At least Amigo didn't close down their forums. I certainly won't be sad if another german publisher like Ulysses or Pegasus would translate Pathfinder as competition for FuS's attempt to publish 4E.

I must admit that I had virtually no contact with the Feder und Schwert material. All I know is that Amigo really messed things up and I thought they couldn't do a worse job of it.
So Feder und Schwert closed their forums? Over what? People complained or something?

You did well by staying away from their products. I never used the german D&D stuff, a friend of mine once borrowed a "Spielerhandbuch" and I wasn't to impressed.
And FuS's World of Darkness translations were terrible, my favourites were the translations of "demolitions" with "zerstoeren" instead of "Sprengstoffe" and "banetender" with "barkeeper". It somehow reminds me of my early translations from latin to german, it doesn't have to make sense, you just have to show that you translated something. That's not to say I dislike all translated RPGs. I liked the german Shadowrun and I'm also quite fond of Pegasus Cthulhu products. I just dislike FuS for their lack of quality and their habit of wasting good licences.
The Forum closure had more to do with them discontinuing the german World of Darkness line as that was what happened shortly after they closed their forums.

While this may be the true reason, the F&S boards were officially closed after the Heise case (scroll down to the english-language entry from August 9th.). Since then the Gate has been some kind of the inofficial F&S board.

Huh? What's that got to do with F&S?

It's a convenient reason to close your Board if you are going to do something that could incite a lot of rage among your fans and the users of said board.

We've been talking for a while about a lot of online elements (wiki, fan art gallery, a place for online content, etc) and it's all on the list. There's a lot of great suggestions on this thread, and please keep throwing more out there! We totally want to give you guys what you want.
In related news, Gary will be celebrating his 300th day without seeing the sun next week. Since his "To Do" list is pretty monstrous we can't really even speculate when some of these elements might come together--there's a whole ton of store and site maintenance bits that we never even see on the message boards here. But do know that all of this is something that we've got in mind and we are totally watching threads like this one for more ideas!
| KaeYoss |
Wes: I already suggested this on another thread, but I'll repeate it here:
Instead of a simple art gallery, why not an art database you can filter, sort, and search in (using name, origin, artist, and what's on it as keywords)?
It's a convenient reason to close your Board if you are going to do something that could incite a lot of rage among your fans and the users of said board.
But how does that apply to F&S? Were they selling CloneCD on the side or something? Or did I miss something in that article?

F&S maintained that they couldn't take the risk for being made responsible for something said on their boards (or any link posted) by other persons (which seemed to be one of the side effects of this case at this time).

Probably was at the time of the Heisse ruling. A state court ruled that anyone maintaining a forum is held completely responsible for anything that anyone writes there, even if he is not aware of it.
Effectively, that ruling would have made internet in germany impossible, as ebay, wikipedia, and google could no longer operate. Of course, this ruling was overthrown later and I think nobody really believed it would ever be enforced, so it would still be a very lame excuse to shut down your own forum.
(The whole thing began when an admin of the forum of an online-magazine participated in encouraging users to denial on service attacks on a companies website, were few people debated he could be held responsible for encouraging people to a crime. But the court messed it up, because they apparently had no idea what a forum is and how the internet works.)
