Hello all! Newbie here!
I'm very interested in delving into the Pathfinder line of products. Where should I begin?
I'm thinking...
Pathfinder Chronicles: Gazetteer
Pathfinder: Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide
Rise of the Runelords 1-6
Of course, the Pathfinder: Campaign Setting looks like a "must have" when it gets released!
Thanks for your guidance on this. Again, I am really impressed with the quality of Paizo products. I have seen Pathfinder stuff at a Hastings bookstore in TN, so I've seen the quality first hand.
And FYI Paizo, this is one 3.Xer who plans on supporting you 100%!

Welcome, good sir.
I think you have some good choices there. The thing you might realize, comparing the Gazetteer with Rise of the Runelords, is that the folks at Paizo slowly changed some stylistics elements as they have matured Golarion(Pathfinder's world) into a product line.
Overall, I think you'll find the first AP to be a good primer for learning about Golarion and how it works as much as the Gazetteer.
That being said, I would also suggest for further study:
Hollow's Last Hope - D0
Crown of the Kobold King - D1
Into the Haunted Forest - TC1
Entombed with the Pharaohs - J1
Guide to Korvosa
Curse of the Crimson Throne Player's Guide
The first four are adventure modules, but I suggest them as a way to also introduce players to the Pathfinder world outside a proscribed setup like the APs. They are smaller steps to the Pathfinder world.
I mention the Korvosa/Crimson Throne materials as good next step in seeing a more urban setting after Rise of the Runelords more diverse setting. Despite the setup for Magnimar, Korvosa is much more detailed and provides extensive information about that area of Varisa.

The Gazetteer is the perfect choice to get into the setting.
Be aware that the RotRL AP is set in the region of Varisia. It gives plenty of informations on the region, but shows very little of the places beyond it's borders. The region feels a little isolated from the rest of the world, but this makes it the perfect place to step into Golarion and learn about it's mood without being overwhelmed by all the goodness in the Gaz.

Yay Lee! Welcome aboard! You think right! The Gazetteer is a GREAT place to start. It will be the best whole world touchstone until the Campaign Setting comes out in August. Pathfinder #3 also gives you a very in-depth look at the Varisia region, perfect for any campaign set there (you know, like Rise of the Runelords, Curse of the Crimson Throne, or your own stuff). If you want to get in on the cutting edge of a new campaign you only need to wait about two months, as we'll have Second Darkness (starting in Varisia's pirate paradise of Riddleport) out in mid August.
So yeah! Super glad to hear you like what you see. And if you ever have any questions about anything, just drop us a post! Best of luck and have fun!
