Rules Question: Martial Powers - Blasts

4th Edition

Dark Archive

I have a question regarding the Martial Power Blast effects: If I affect more than one target, lets say 4. Do I use up 1 bolt/arrow/weapon per target? I can not find any rules concerning this.
If yes, this would be a severe ressource drain compared to the arcane balst powers for example.
If no, how can I explain that 1 Dagger hits 4 targets if I do not want to go the way of "Hero"(the film).

1 piece of ammunition is used per each actual target. There was a customer service reply, I think, that got posted on enworld from WotC and I remember that one as it pertains to my Rogue and his blinding burst ability. :)

Makes sense, thanks!

Good, I read the OP and thought "JFK ARROW ATTACK!"

I saw that rule somewhere in the Combat chapter as well, as I too was curious about that. I'd give a page number if I could, but I'm at work! (shhhh, don't tell my boss!)

Cheers! :)

One piece per attack roll. PH pages 270 and 271. Note that it appears that all ammunition fired is destroyed (PH p. 221, "Ammunition is used up when you fire it from a projectile weapon."), so rangers best be carrying a lot of quivers.

I think all the Rangers in my group are breathing a bit easier that we generally don't track ammunition at our table. Although if you thought that was expensive, check out some of the Rogue attacks that hit an area with ranged weapons. Pack the enemies in dense enough and you could probably go through like, 5 gp worth of shurikens per attack!

Cheers! :)
