Who plays in your game

4th Edition

I am not sure if this will be bumped to another forum, but I will ask it here anyway.

Who makes up your group? I don't mean actual names. I am interested in age groups, education, employment, etc. When and how ofter do you play?

This is purely for fun...I know that it won't be indicative of the D&D playing populace, but it could be of those who post on these boards :)

I will start it off.

My group currently consists of 6 people (including me).

We play (mostly) every Monday night.

Most of us are in our mid-30s, with 2 slightly younger.

We have a professor, a teacher, a developer, 2 service sector workers (both for the LCBO) and a dog walker.

3 of the group have been playing D&D since they were in public/high school.

2 of them have been playing the Monday night game for a long time (unsrue of how long, but well before I came on the scene, and that was 5 years ago).

5 of us have been playing the Monday game for 5 years now. The newest memeber joined about 4 months ago.

4 of us are married, the other 2 are in relationships.

1 of us has children, but I think that others will soon follow suit :)

My group consists of seven people, not including the friends that will jump back on when the VTT is up and running that live in other states/countries, or the potential newbies that might join up with us.

We dont all play at once, some people show up one week, others the other week.

We are in our early twenties to early thirties.

3 of us have some college education (1 is almost graduated).

We all currently work entry level jobs in some form of customer service; those of us in college are obviously planning on going elsewhere with our careers, however.

4 of us have been playing D&D since junior high.

5 of us are in relationships; 1 is married.

All of us play digital games in some form (mostly console titles).

3 of us play online games in some form; Army of Two, Haze, Team Fortress 2, and Counter Strike.

1 of us is female, though at least 2 others are interested in playing.

1 of us plays other RPGs; he is planning on running Star Wars: Saga Edition using my books.

We currently have seven people in the group.

One just graduated high school, two are in college, one hasn't decided yet, one of us just graduated and is in the process of starting a career, my wife and I are college graduates. We straddle the late teens to early thirties pretty evenly.

We play Thursdays, and sometimes on Saturday when we want a second game.

Two of us have courier jobs delivering medical supplies. One is an assistant manager at a copy/shipping store. One is delivering pizzas and trying to get a teaching job. The rest don't have a consistant job and bounce around a lot.

We introduced one guy in our group to roleplaying. Another guy in the group is the guy who introduced me to roleplaying. We discovered two of them in a local game store. We found the last guy at D&D Day.

Except for the new guy we've all been gaming together for at least seven years on and off. The guy who introduced me to gaming I've known for about 12 years. The newest guy has been with us for about three months.

I'm married to one of our gamers. One's in a relationship. One would very much like to be. The other two become violent and physically ill at the suggestion that they might someday have a relationship. My wife likes to do this to make them squirm.

We've got two kids, who both have an unnatural obsession with dice. One day I walked in on them fighting in their room. One was dressed up in a zip up dragon costume. The other one was dressed as a knight with a helmet, sword, and plastic breastplate. Yep, they're gonna' be gamers!

Nice! I bug my wife that I will take the kids to our D&D session one day, which bugs her to no end :) She accepts my D&D 'short comings', but that doesn't sit well with her ;) (Too geeky she says...yet guess which one of us has been to a Star Trek convention... :) ).

The Exchange

I have two different groups I am running right now. I have about 20 players who want on my table. I am currently rotating folks off after every adventure path. The only person who always gets a chair at my table is my wife. Likewise, if I gack you, someone else gets your chair. I run a six person table. Other folks in the group DM other

Everyone over 30 is married.

Everyone is either in college or grad school, or in a profession.

A third of my players make six digits a year or more.
Several are teachers, which is what my wife does.

Kid Pool: I run a bi-weekly team for the neighborhood kids and my sons.
Ages 7-14. 4 boys and 2 girls.
This is the BEST GAME EVER! If you don't run a kids game, consider it. It's how we grow the game, and it is also a great way to rememebr why you started playing.

Interesting post.

Let's see, we have 7 in our group:

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

My group consist mostly of students or former students since we're a University group. We play every Thursday even though it has a tendency to move every few weeks.

Me, 25, studying International Logistics, painfully single :p played for so long I've forgotten, but my first system was the old Alternity system when it was brand new.

Computer programmer aged 22, single. Introduced to PnP roleplaying by me in 2003 or 2004.

Dropped out computer engineering student aged 24, married (to a non gamer) with one child. Only plays every other week due to family. I introduced this guy to gaming too, when I was in high-school or thereabout.

Dropped out computer engineering student #2 aged 23 (dating the next one on the list). Is moving this summer. Introduced him to gaming too, don't remember when.

Biochemist or somethin like that aged 23 and the only female in the group. Is moving this summer. She had heard of gaming before, but never tried until our group introduced her to it.

A guy that works with autocad (his work title I have no idea about) aged 23. In a long-distance relationship with a girl that works offshore. Is moving this summer. Another one who games thanks to me (I feel like quite a recruiter now)

An electrician and drop-out student aged 23, single. Played for about as long as me, though with another group.

And two construction engineering students, both aged 23, and both single. Both gamed long before they met me. Both GM'ed before they joined our group.

Think that's all. Some are moving sometime during the summer and we'll be stuck with a more manageable amount of players, even though having friends move across the country sucks big time.

I'm in two or three overlapping groups, depending on how you count. I game with a total of 10 other people -- counting myself, nine men and two women.

Most are mid-20s to mid-30s; I'm 39; one person is older, but it would be indelicate to ask her by how much. The married couple are early 20s. Probably over half are married; two or three are unattached.

Not all are college-educated, but at least two have graduate degrees.

Occupations include middle school teacher, professor, television news producer, DNA analyst, soldier, programmer, housewife, admin assistant, insurance agent, photographer.

The groups have only formed in the last year, thanks to a couple of us organizing things. A few of us have been playing since 1st edition AD&D days, but some have only started gaming in the last year or so.

Quite a diverse group!
