Looking to start a 4th edition pbp here on Paizo

Gamer Connection

Hey Everyone,

Life is slowly sorting itself out, and as such with some free time I've decided to give a Play by Post here a shot.

I'm looking for 4-6 players who don't mind using pregens and tooling arround at level 1-2-3 for a while until i actually recieve my books. Perferably able to post 1/weekday but a 3-4 times over the entire week (ie 2/workweek and 1/weekend is acceptable, 3/weekend is not).

I as a Dm will post at least once per weekday barring exceptional circumstances

Character creation will consist of selection of either a Keep on the Shadowfeel pregen or a DnDXP pregen (I would also allow the halfing or elf rogues that enworld mocked up a while back if you can find them) which leaves us with about 13 characters i believe

(5 module, 6 dndxp , Extra Module Character, Halfling or Elf Rogue from Enworld)

The Game itself would be in either eberron or the implied setting, and would focus on the short term (most likely a dungeon and town) until the books are recieved.

if your interested post here. If you have some suggestions/want to snag a character sheet feel free.

I'm interested in this somewhat. Mainly to learn more about 4th ed, which I know very little about. Where can I find these pregen characters to look at?

I am interesting to play at your game. Like Kefluran, where can we find the pregen character?

teifling warlord here

and

quickstart rules (from DnDxp) here

DDXP characters here

I also have a copy of Keep on the Shadowfell, and if you can get ahold of a copy of the charactersheets (just confirm you got em, ) they are fine too, but as they are not open, no link here.

Oh, me, please! I do have KotS, so I have access to those pregens.

Under normal circumstances, I can post at least daily (or if I can't, can give notice). I am, however, traveling until Saturday, so I may have a bit tougher time.

Normally I'm at GMT-4.

Logos, good to see your handle on the boards again. It's been a while, but that could just be me. I can barely keep up with running my game, but I'll be sure to look in on yours to see what 4E has got going for it.

I want to play the Eladrin Ranger for the PbP.

It has been a while, its been a little crazy in RL and this board, althought of preety high quality doesn't offer the 4th edition minded as much as others.

So it looks like i have 3 takers (pat o'the 9th power, dragonvan and fefluran), if i could drum up a few more it would be ideal, but I think its enough to play with either way.

If everyone could pick out what pregen they would be interested in, that would be peachy.

also some votes for eberron or not eberron as well as what kind of campeign you guys would like would be keen. Lets see if i can't get first post up by the end of the week however? mmmkay?

I'll go for the Dragonborn Paladin, I think.

Not a huge fan of Eberron, but nor would I strenuously object.

I think something along the lines of Bloodsworn Vale (which I haven't read, just seen some of the press) would be cool. Go out and tame an area. Gives room for lots of different opponents and situations, and fits in the "points of light."

got linky?

I'd love to play. I'd like to try the Tiefling Warlord, but I'll settle for just aboot anything, eh?

For Bloodsworn Vale? I was referring to GameMastery Module W1, here at Paizo.

ahhh that works , and it looks like we have a fourth, welcome.

okay so now i have 2 kinds of ideas in my mind (three including modules)

The First is a Kind of Heavy Melodramtic Steorytypical Plot Heavy Adventuer aka a fantastic version of stephen king's myst

The Second is a Very Sandboxy "Go WEST Young Man" adventuer that would depend a lot on the PC's being proactive, getting out their, doing their own thing. aka a less dwarfy version of dwarf fortress.

I could run bloodrose vale, BUT considering the amount of conversions and my own dislike for some of the fluff, It would take everyone being on board, and willing to accept a creative reinterpretion.

a different option would consist of another more traditional module, if you guys wanted to try a creative interpretation of one of the top 30 adventuers of all time i could be game for that too.

so speak up, have you say

I should also say that if you all go for the sandbox route, things will be very random, not in the omg wtf is going on bbq but rather that towns, villages, npc's etc will be rolled as randomly as possible, quite possibly using 1st edition random tables (<3 unofficial random tables junk)

I didn't mean necessarily the module Bloodsworn Vale -- I was citing it as an example of a type. Please attribute my lack of clarity to jetlag!

I'm fond of sandboxes, but I'm not sure it's the best thing when learning a new system. I'm game if others are, though (no pun intended). If we do go sandbox, I'd like to be able to rebuild our characters (keeping the basic concepts) when the books come out, so they can be more tailored to the concepts we develop.

"Plot Heavy" is definitely not among my favorite gaming phrases; I'd rank that 3rd (afer reinterpreted classic adventure).

I figured on, if and when people got the 4th edition books that everyone could make their own characters. I'm using the pregens because they are availble publically, and now as apposed to latter. This entire game may get scrapped/restarted when 4th is offically out and we're past the level 2-3 threshhold just depending on what people do.

Cool.

I vote for sandbox, then!

Good enough for me!

okay for you sandboxer's

choose a direction

North, East, South, West

How about South, into the jungles, in search of the fabled lost city (which may or may not actually exist)?

Discussion Thread

Hey Everyone, if you wanted to bring your table talk into the discussion thread linked above it would be nice. Also it will help me cement just how many people I got and which pregens they are using :D

Game is starting shortly, so if you are interested please go to the discussion thread and post there.

thanks.
