Seven days to the grave, spoiler.
Probably everybody else has noticed this. I have been reading the installments of Eando Kline’s adventures beginning in Pathfinder #2. On 12 gozram while traveling up river from Magnimar to Wartle, Eando found a small metal box with lost of skulls on it and a puzzle lock. He decided to “ wait and let someone more experienced deal with it at the next lodge”. Later the box is stolen from him, and he tracks the thieves to Korvosa. He runs into one of the thieves, an elf, and chases him through Korvosa and ends up in a red mantis den, and gets back the box, temporarily.
After reading the description of a “deaths head coffer” on page 32 of pathfinder # 8 “seven days to the grave”, I think that Eando Kline had a death’s head coffer in his possession. There was also mention of Xanesha the Lamia Matriarch, selling samples of Vorel’s Phage to the Red Mantis in Pathfinder #2 as well. I’ll bet you those samples were in the little metal box that Eando Kline found but never opened. Lucky him.
What do you guys think? Is there a good chance my suspicions are right?

You are indeed correct. That whole plot was indeed us doing a stealth preview of Curse of the Crimson Throne... we didn't pull it off PERFECTLY, alas (the dates kinda get a little weird), but yeah... the idea is that Eando had one of many death's head coffers in his possession.

I assume these types of hints of things to come will continue in the memoirs of our dear friend Eando? I notice he traveled through the Cinderlands and is currently in Belkzen, which is where the PCs are set to go later in CotCT.

Damn. Guessed wrong again.
For the record, my guess was that the box Eando had contained worn underwear from queen Ileosa herself, which the Red Mantis intended to use in some weird pervy voodoo magic to make her do their bidding and rule Korvosa in an iron fist clad in velvet and tied to the throne with pink handcuffs.
But Surprise boxes work, too.

James, Thank you for taking the time to answer. It means allot to us that all of you take the time to answer our little questions. It makes us feel part of a community.
I am enjoying reading the materiel about Golaron. I think the world is well written. From skimming the Gazetter, It looks like Golaron is comprised of lots of “regions” perfect for a DM to take make his own and run a game there. I assume that is the intent.
In terms of Eando and his little pandoras box, I enjoy finding these little easter eggs. How is it that the dates don’t line up? At least this isn’t something I have picked up on. I guess all I know is that the RotL adventure path covers 4707 and 4708. From reading the Rotl adventure path, the campaign has to take a minimum of 1 year in the campaign world.
My assumption was that Mr Kline’s adventures were roughly happening at the same as the RoTL adventure path.
From what I understand the CoTT begins in 4708. I understand the game world years match our calender. That was very simple and clever I thought.
I also noticed a little link between the Seven Swords of sin and the Spires of Xin Salast. I like finding these loosly tied links.
My gaming group has just started a RoTL campaign. Our DM was moving, and I “accidently” left Pathfinder #1 at my friends house where we game. My friend decided he wanted to run the adventure path because he thought it was very well written.
I have an elven druid with a wolf- yes Orion and Sirrus.
First level characters are a little fragile and I was thinking of making a backup character and using Eando Kline as inspiration. I like him as a character. I am guessing Eando Kline is some sort of rogue/ Bard combinaton in terms of a character build
Here is what I am planning I am thinking of starting as a first level human rogue, then going into bard. For feats I am planning to take the “university educated “ feat from the AEG source book on feats. This feat gives a character 8 bonus skill points to start with at 1st level, and 2 bonus points therer after. You have to deduct 100 gp from your starting gold to pay for your university education. I was also planning to take the Able learner feat from Races of destiny.
I figure this combination will give my character some more skill points, and as he advances in level as a bard, he can purchace the cross class ranks of Find and Remove traps, wait Its Disable Device, Open locks, Search Spot etc, by only paying 1 skill point. This way I will be able to advance as a bard and keeps some trap monkey skills. I think this combination will emulate a tomb raider type character nicely. I am referring to the tomb raider with the fedora hat and whip, not the one with pistols and hips, although that character is a good sourse of inspiration for a well rounded pathfinder as well. The whip. well I will have to do the Improved Disarm and Imprved trip routine, along with the whip climbing skill trick. Then we have a path finder inspired by Indy.
On the subject of Pathfinders. I think it is a better idea to steer away from any sort of prestige class. That will give players much more freedom to imagine their own pathfiners.
Well enough of my rant. Thank you again for taking the time to read and answer my post.
