Cheliax area?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Liberty's Edge

I've seen a lot of published maps and material on the city of Korvosa and the land it's in of Varisia.

This is EXCELLENT work.

I wonder if there is any published material and/or maps of Cheliax?

Where is it in relation to Varisia? Is it a different continent? are there other major lands other than Varisia and Cheliax?

I'm a little unsure how all these lands lay in relation to each other.

Can anyone point me in the direction of what sourcebook I can read up on this.

I have the Guidebook to Korvosa - its great.

I do believe that information will be in the Gazetteer when it comes out.

Then so far, there's nothing written on here, or published, no maps or anything about Cheliax or other nations etc other than Varisia?

I'm reading the players guide to CotCT adventure path, and it seems to me that Korvosa is in Varisia - but also in Cheliax? (or once was?)

This is the kind of info I'm trying to read about - the history and such.

Where is the large city of Absalom at? I dont see it on the Varisian map that is found in the Maps of Varisia I have from RotRL stuff....?

I've heard that city mentioned before - think it's in one of the gamemastery modules....

Here is a map of Golarion that answers many of your questions. http://paizo.com/image/content/PathfinderChronicles/GolarionMap.jpg

Korvosa was a Chelaxian settlement on the westernmost edge of the Empire. Absalom is located quite a distance to the southeast of Varisia.

There have been a few Gamemastery scenarios that have taken place in Absalom and lightly detailed neighborhoods in the city (I think Gallery of Evil is one). However, no wholesale gazetter or guide to the city has been published yet (tho I'm sure the Pathfinder Gazeteer will have more information than we've previously seen.)

Thanks guys for the all the help.

That map of Golarion is awesome! It's massive!

Good job again, Paizo.

I look forward to knowing more about the world.

Not much, not yet. Pathfinder Chronicles and its world Golarion as a published world are quite young yet. But things will be along presently: The gazetteer will be out next week, the campaign setting in August, and there will be many other books about the world, its lands, its people, its magic, its whatever.

I'm quite sure that Cheliax will get its own sourcebook. It's too cool not to get it.

It was a colony of Cheliax, subject to its law, and its rule, and its emperor. 100 years ago, when Cheliax's patron deity, Aroden, suddenly died, they abandoned their colonies. Ever since, Korvosa tries to get back under Chelaxian law.

It also was at that time, when Cheliax turned to devil worship.

There's a big poster map and info in the Gazetteer. Got a look-see at Paizocon yesterday. Looks cool!

Yeah, Korvosa is its own boss now. It's a free city. Many of its nobles and citizens would like to be back as part of Cheliax, but just as many, I suspect, don't. In any event, Cheliax isn't interested in expanding borders that far right now; they've got their own problems.

And yes... Cheliax is a pretty cool place that could well indeed support its own sourcebook.

Or Adventure Path.

HA! Yah, that was funny from Saturday. Oops.

I'm sorry to say that after Erik's story at Paizocon on the origins of Cheliax that I now have an image of devil-worshipping water skiers... it's... disturbing...

Great! Thanks for all the info.

See, this is the kind of thing I wanted to know - but more importantly - WHERE did you get this info?

I have every GameMastery module, every Pathfinder Module; and the Maps for RotRL and the Guide book to Korvosa just came in the mail. I will eventually read them all as I need to - but just wanted some direction where to start? I assume Guidebook to Korvsa????

The reason I'm asking is that I'm currently running games (and playtesting Pathfinder) and want some of this info to foreshadow and lay some ground work for when its time to kick off my next Adventure Path Campaign (running SCAP right now)....

Thanks
Robert

Now my image is devil-worshipping water-skiing Ninjas. Now that would be some kick ass Reynolds artwork there.

You have to watch the blog - as I recall, that was how I got the .jpg file with the map of Golarion. A lot of backround information gets "previewed" in the blog. There are also a few campaign world background sections in each Pathfinder book.

Also, sometimes these back-ground questions are answered by the Paizo folks in various threads. So if you have a question, it's a good idea to do a search on the topic in the message boards.

Thank you, Michael.

I'm hoping a lot more will be answered in the new Gazetteer I just bought - cant wait for it's arrival!
