..we've decided to drop some of them from a great height:
Falling: The Goblin Edition.

Falling is one of my partner James Ernest's all-time best games. It's a real-time game in which you are all falling, and the object is to hit the ground last. (It's all you could think of on the way down.)

For the Goblin Edition, I wrote a little goblin song:

Goblins falling from the sky
Can you teach us how to--THUMP!

Enjoy falling to your death.

That rocks!

Awesome!

I approve of this senseless cruelty to savage humanoids. That's what D&D is all about, after all! ;-P

I hope the sales of this won't plummet...

I'm flying!
I'm flying!
I'm fl-THUNK!!!

Just curious but is this Edition compatable with previous Editions of Falling or is this a new, reenvisioning of the game? Can the Goblins land in the Faewylds? Can the Goblins teleport themselves closer to the ground? Why does the Goblin on the front of the box look like Dobby?

I've updated the product description with a couple of sample card images.

The rules are basically identical to the 1998 version. As for your last three questions, I'd have my goblin sidekick answer them, but he can't read.

Fantastic!!

But what happens when they miss the ground?

I thought that was the definition of flying...

Those pictures look great. I can't wait until my daughter turns 8 so I can play it with her.

To celebrate this, the smurf thing should be adapted to goblin: Whenever someone says goblin, their avatar turns into a falling goblin.

They get to try again.

What's the game-play like?

You mentioned 'real-time', so I'm imagining no strict turn sequence, cards being flung as interrupts, etc.

Am I close?

Very much so.

A short summary of the original game Falling:

The game takes about five minutes to play. One player is the dealer. All the rest of the players are falling through the sky, with the object of hitting the ground last. The dealer deals out a steady stream of cards to players in sequence. These cards have names like HIT and PUSH and SPLIT. In real-time (that is, not in turns), the players play them on their own stacks of cards and on other players' stacks of cards, trying to end up with the right cards to delay the inevitable arrival of the GROUND cards, which are at the bottom of the deck. When a player is dealt a GROUND card, he is out of the game. The last player to receive a GROUND card wins.

A short summary of the new game Falling: The Goblin Edition:
That, but with goblins.

Mike, I hope this isn't seen as a hijack; I was just looking for a spot to share this link and here looks like the best bet without having to clutter the boards with a new thread. Credit to my gaming buddy Kristen for sharing this with me:
