More messageboard strangeness

I just tried to reply to the "I have no class" thread (under other RPGs), and no matter if I click reply or add new post, all it does is reloading the page...

All other threads acted normal

Yeah, that's a new one. Lisa noticed it last night. Still trying to figure out what the exact failure mode is.

I've been having this problem with the white wolf threads also.

I had the same problem as Seb with the White Wolf thread.

Though it's probably for the best that I can't post in those threads - I'm pretty annoyed by that White Wolf ad. Looks like s~!#ty marketing is just the way of the future in rpgs - I hope Paizo can continue to sell their products without participating in the 'your game is dumb-fest' that WotC and WW seem to be trying.

OK, I've rolled out a possible fix for this problem. If you want to test the new code, sign out and sign back in.

/me signed out and back in, then posted here.

Yeah, actually that's not a good test. Signing out and signing in gets you one of the new instances with the fix, but those instances all have excellent knowledge about existing messageboard threads.

The failure mode is: an instance gets notified about a new thread, and then for some reason adds that thread to a list of things it will swear up and down are not in the database. Later, when that instance attempts to extract the thread you're replying to from the request when you click "reply", it checks that list, sees the thread, and assumes the thread doesn't exist. And of course it knows the thread exists, it just made that reply link for you, didn't it?

Good lord, computers are stupid.

D'oh! Josh—time to rewrite all those ads we came up with yesterday!

How would you suggest we debate or show how kewl our stuff is if not through insulting the opposition? Honestly, Sebastian, are you that naïve?

Liberty's Edge

I'm guessing the massive amount of missing posts I'm failing to see are an exaggerated instance of the message-eating bug and that they'll turn up later?
