Female Human Bard 1

"Well, the good professor seems certainly a bit out of sorts, but he looks a tad tired. If he would be called to appear before the council today, he would need to refresh himself a bit, before going there. It does not make a good impression to give a performance when you're tired."

"Yeah, well Dayenn the type to go without sleep for extended periods of time with mostly no ill effects, though your point is definitely taken.." looks around for a second and then puts his hand up to his mouth and whispers to Vivenne "I'll club him upside the head with the pummel of my dagger if you'll help drag him back to his house...he'll get him some sleep one way or another " smiles evilly

Male Human Cleric 1

Arriving at Professor Naight's front door, after a brisk walk through the already thickening crowd of the city, Armand dusts off his jacket with his tricorne before running a hand through his thinning hair. Certain that his appearance is up to par he loudly raps on the door with his knuckles, ignoring the strange metal apparatus apparently designed for just such a thing.
"If my own hand was good enough back home, it's good enough here," he quietly thinks to himself.
It doesn't take long before noise is heard behind the door, but the man who opens it is still not the professor.

"My the 'professor' seems popular today. For the life of me, I cannot deduce why. Please join the queue he has established at his table in the restaurant across the way," sniffs Darby.

"Shut up, D'Armon." Witch turns to Vivienne. "The Professor might be a bit 'off', or at least that's the opinion I've gotten after seeing him write one too many notes in his journal about me...but compared to that man, Professor Naight is a friendly grandmother."

Armand looks a bit perplexed at the derogatory remarks, then half-turns toward the restaurant.

"I see, at least he has returned. I thank you my good man, I shall go there at once."
With a small bow toward the manservant, Armand threads his way through the crowd and enters the restaurant. Hat in hand he tries to scan the place to see if he can spot a larger crowd that might indicate the presence of the professor.
It doesn't take long, however, before a waiter approaches with an inquiring mine on his face.

With a small bow toward the manservant, ...

'Quite polite for a dwarf,' thinks Darby before returning to his chores.

For Armand

Spoiler:
You enter the Cafe Pegasus. Then you remember that you never asked for a description of the Professor. You look around and your heart skips a beat. There. A woman. She smiles and laughs. Your wife. Now many years dead. You must take a closer look.

For Dayenn, Grim, Marius, Nathan, Witch, Vivienne

Spoiler:
The Cafe Pegasus is a having a particularly successful morning opening. Another man enters. Short, stocky fellow with a beard. Is he a dwarf you ask?

For Marius

Spoiler:
As the professor and his new found "fans" merrily chatter away, eroding the fine sense of balance that you have carefully nurtured, time seem to stand still then it stops. You notice that everything the cafe has stopped. Even the falling cup from across the table is caught up in the impeded flow of time. Mere seconds away from its crash.

You stand up and shake your companions. They are not moving. You choke the professor but you do not see it having any effect. What is happening, you think.

Then you hear a familiar voice. "Well little one, it seems that you are just full of surprises." Then you turn around then see the shadows move, a blackness darker than midnight's ebon heart. "Remember our pact little one. A sacrifice. One worthy of my magnificence. It must be someone you cherish."

Marius, roll horror check DC 15, if you fail you must act as if in a state of shock during the entire meal.

The flow of time resumes but the laughter echo inside your head.

In a loud voice: "The pork is delicious, very tender. It tastes like babies, don't you think Witchy?"

Marius blinks after a second and looks around at the people at the table. Looking them over as if to size them up and then chuckles to himself and says "mmm babies...this sure is good pig"

"Who's that, do you suppose?" Witch says. "A dwarf?"

Male Human Beguiler 1

Dayenn continues to press the Gendarme on whether or not his friends can attend the event.

"I didn't know they were that short."

Nathaniel has finished eating whilst the others at the table engage in banter. He pushes his plate away and glances around again at his companions, and at the professor who is standing a short distance away talking to a soldier.

He’s unsure what to do. He doesn’t really want to be here, but it was not clear to him whether breakfast was being paid for by the professor or himself, so he waits uncomfortably, biding his time to see what the others do.

He is beginning to think that coming to this city was a mistake.

Male Human Beguiler 1

Dayenn tries to finnagle an invitation for the dangerous looking crew.

Diplomacy check 1d20+6=9 ... guess this guard is immune to my charisma.

Female Human Bard 1

"Dwarves are about 4 feet tall fellows. What they seemingly lack in height, they match in bulk and sturdiness. I'd advise you to never join a dwarf in a drinking contest, he will most likely win. And no, he is most likely not a dwarf."

"And the thing about babies? You will most likely be going down a path you'll never return from, if you have tasted this knowingly. And I will see to it myself, that you will never reach the end of this way. You'll bite the dust first."

"I guess some people can't take a joke."

Male Human Cleric 1

Marie?!?
No, it couldn't be... yet it seemed just like his Marie 30 years ago, the same tilt to the head, the way she tucked her hair behind one ear, the smile, the laughter... even the eyes and nose seemed exactly like hers.
Stunned by this shocking vision Armand didn't hear the waiter's repeated questions at first. Slowly the sounds of the outside world started to seep through the sound of his blood pounding in his ears.
"... a table? Monsieur? Hello?"
Armand turned slightly to the inquiring waiter and looked bewildered at him.
"Yes? Oh, a table... I, erm, I'm here to see Professor Naight, if you know of him?"
"Professor Naight? Why yes, of course, he has already gathered a few other people at his table, this way please."
Armand slowly followed the waiter, but couldn't take his eyes off Marie... no, the woman who looked just like her. Yet as they slowly wound their way through the tables and other guests he realized that they were headed straight towards the table with the woman!

I assume the woman is Vivienne, ne pas?

Male Caliban Druid 1

"Look the dwarf person or whatever he is is coming this way. Another customer of yours, professor? If D'Armon is anything to go by, this one is going to be pretty...odd."

"yeah he looks like a real freak" Marius chuckles as he looks the dwraf up and down

Dark Archive

Armand is escorted by the waiter to the table where Grim, Marius, Nathan, Vivienne, Witchy are presently seated. “Monsieurs, Mademoiselle , this gentleman is looking for Professor Naight.”

Meanwhile, Dayenn the gendarme just told you that he regrets that he cannot help you. Turning around Dayenn notices another fellow being escorted by the waiter to your table.

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 6; AC 21; touch 13; ff 18. HP: 59/59. Fort +6; Ref +8; Will +6

Nathaniel half stands, and nods a greeting to the new comer. As he does, he glances at Vivienne, then quickly looks away.

Male Caliban Druid 1

"Hello, fellow. I suppose you want to see the 'professor'? He's pretty popular, it seems. Can't imagine why."
As the caliban speaks, he looks around with a curious feeling of déjà vu. "Perhaps...he murmurs to himself, "I have been away from civilization far too long."

Female Human Bard 1

"Greetings, Monsieur. Please join us at our humble gathering and enjoy a good breakfast. The good professor will be taking up the bill. My name is Vivienne Marais, and I am also seeking the Professor about some things that only he may shed a light upon. These others are some very peculiar fellows, he picked up in the night, but they will certainly introduce themselves... I hope."

Vivienne points to an empty seat.

"Grim, some themes are not really appropriate to use in jokes. Cannibalism might be okay, though only barely, cannibalism with babies is not, definetely."

"And yes, you are right, I am not good with jokes. Fate taught me too much harsh lessons to appreciate a good joke and laugh about it. How abaout you?"

"Just don't let the professor hear you saying that, or he'll whip out that stupid notebook of his and start 'studying' you. It really grates on one's nerves."

Male Human Cleric 1

"Monsieurs... erm, Mademoiselle," the last word seems slightly nervous as it leaves the mouth of the newcomer, yet he bows slightly to each and every one of you.
"Yes, I'm here to see the Professor... I gather that he's not here right now, is that correct?"

"Ahh, I see. Hopefully he's not in any kind of trouble," Armand says indicating the gendarme.

"If he's not, I'm sure trouble will find him sooner than later. He appears to be at the focal point of a lens that spies weirdness. I mean, we're here, aren't we?"

<Looks at Witchbrand and shrugs.>

Male Human Beguiler 1

Dayenn thanks the gendarme and returns to the table with the invitation tucked inside his jacket.

He is quite effusive in his greeting. "Monsieur Fouchard! You have found me. I cannot hide!! I jest. Please, sit! Join us for breakfast. We have been having the most interesting adventures travelling through dangerous woods at night. You've met my travelling companions and ... unless I miss my guess, by the look on your face you know Vivienne? Please, sit. We will order more food and until they bring it you can share ours which should be here soon. After breakfast we are going to return to the house and ... and ... and ... I have no idea but we will find something to do. Anything!"

Female Human Bard 1

"Well, I do not remember you, Monsieur Fouchard. Have we met before?"

Male Human Cleric 1

"Ahh, Professor, I finally get a chance to shake your hand."
"I was getting a bit worried that I would miss the opportunity to see you in person while I'm here, but it seems my stubbornness to stick around bore fruit."
Taking the offered seat, Armand turns to the enthralling woman seated across from him.
"No, no mademoiselle, I don't think we've met before... erm, the professor must be mistaken."

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 6; AC 21; touch 13; ff 18. HP: 59/59. Fort +6; Ref +8; Will +6

Nathaniel looks up sharply and throws Armand a suspicious look, but says nothing.

Having finished his meal, Grim purposefully belches loudly and then waves smiling to anyone who stares at him.

"Enjoying the show?"

He saws to any gawkers.

Marius watches in the exchange with interest. After a few more moments he finishes his food and pushes the plate away.

Male Human Beguiler 1

The self-proclaimed 'professor' eats mostly sweet things and avoids anything that might fill his stomach and make him feel sleepy.

With some amusement, he watches the party watching the room.

You are all seated around the table enjoying your meal when a loud voice filled with anger and pain screams through the restaurant, "Kill all the pigs!" A moment later a man who appears to be a chef steps out of the kitchen, his white uniform stained by blood, clutched in either hand is a bloody cleaver.

Seeing this, the other patrons of the cafe scream their panic and rush out of the cafe.

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 6; AC 21; touch 13; ff 18. HP: 59/59. Fort +6; Ref +8; Will +6

Nathaniel reaches down for his weapons, where he has stowed them on the floor beside his seat, halfway under the table. With the comforting grip of his scythe in hand, he stands and turns towards the chef, but says nothing, watching to see what the man will do.

Untrained sense motive: 16+2 = 18.

Spot Check DC 10

Spoiler:
A man remains sitting in a corner table. The cleaver wielding man has a clear path to him.

Dark Archive

For Nathan and those who roll Sense Motive DC 15

Spoiler:
You are very that the cleaver wielding man is insane and not aware of his actions.

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 6; AC 21; touch 13; ff 18. HP: 59/59. Fort +6; Ref +8; Will +6

Spot:12+5 = 17.

Nathaniel discerns where the cleaver wielding man is headed, and moves to intercept his path.

EDIT: if required, Init:10+2 = 12

Dark Archive

Nathan you can intercept cleaver man before he reaches his target. But you'll strike him from behind which would make him flatfooted and give you a +2 on your attack roll.

Male Caliban Druid 1

Spot and Sense Motive checks
"Stop him!" Witch yells. He steps between the cook and the man.

We'll use the sequence of your posting as the initiative.

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 6; AC 21; touch 13; ff 18. HP: 59/59. Fort +6; Ref +8; Will +6

Nathaniel dashes forward, his scythe gripped tightly, making towards the cleaver wielding maniac. He moves in behind the man and swings his weapon towards the man’s neck – but seeking to strike him with the haft of the weapon, rather than the wickedly curved blade. The drag of air on the blade makes the swing awkward, only partially compensated for by the fact that the chef seems unaware of the attack.

Attacking to subdue (non-lethal damage): 11+3+2-4 = 12.
If that hits, damage: 2+3 subdual.

If chef is in anyway facing Marius or if Marius could easily get in eye sight of chef he will use Beguiling Stare DC 15 to resist

Draw weapon, move toward the maniac.

If there is time:
Atack, nonlethal damage: (1d20 3=9, 2d6 4=9)

Male Human Beguiler 1

Dayenn steps quietly forward while preparing to use his 'amazing control over the human mind' to cause the combatants to sleep.

He's casting sleep on the combatants.
