So my players are starting (finally) RotRL. I just noticed that 2 of them have taken undercommon as one of their languages. I didn't ask how they would'be learned undercommmon. But is this even a language that would be available in Varisia? I haven't read through all the adventures yet, so I'm just kinda looking for some ideas here. Especially - are there any substitutes that could be offered?
Thanks

There's no reason you couldn't use it, but if Undercommon actually does appear in RotR, it doesn't play much of a role. It's not something I've even thought about when reading the adventures. More than likely it will be an important language in the third path, but for this it's a bit of a waste unless it has significant roleplaying value to the character.

The useful languages in this path are Thassilonian and Giant. My PCs are speaking Thassilonian among themselves nowadays, they've used it so much. After that, Infernal and Abyssal, Goblin, Sylvan and Dwarven will at least have some chances to be used.
In my opinion, certain parts of the AP will sparkle much more if at least one PC can speak Thassilonian: especially #5 and #6. You can get around this by having a lot of people inexplicably speak Common, but for us it was more fun to enforce the languages.
