Firstly, this technically isn't the correct forum for this thread. But since my transgressions happened in the 4th Edition Forum, I feel my apology should go here as well.
I am sorry. I jacked the thread Death and Dying to hell and back. And then some more.
That wasn't my intention, nor was it my plan. But it still happened.
I do realize that that thread was not the most appropriate place to "have it out," but I never saw a better way to handle it.
I have no excuse.
If any of you feel compelled to comment on my behavior, please, I invite you to do so in this thread.

Eh, you fell for one of the classical blunders, other than the one about the land war in Asia. Trolls love to call people names, and then get all in a snit when they are treated with the same level of disrespect they spew about them.
Amuse yourself by keeping a tally of how many times a poster complains about all the negativity and abuse they receive, compared to how many times they enter a thread and start spewing negativity and name-calling. It's actually quite enlightening.
It's also enlightening to do to one's own posts. There have been times I had to say stuff like, 'Kay, I disagreed with this dude three times now, time to stop responding completely and go find some post where someone is asking for help with X or a good idea for Y and offer up some *useful* commentary rather than sparring with the gloom patrol here. Tone down the noise and up my signal.'

Dude, he got my hackles up a few times. Don't worry about it. Once 4E is out everything will start toning down...
Try not to respond to 4E threads or the "Crossed One" will attack you for not agreeing with his POV.
Just when you thought it was safe to go into a 4th edition thread....

I think we need a bigger boat...
(sorry. Couldn't resist)

Disenchanter - It took two to argue for that long. Thanks for taking a breath and walking away (as I assume you've done because you posted this).
Subset of subsequent posters in this thread - Disenchanter didn't even hint at slighting his "honorable opponent" when making this apology. Please don't turn this thread into a chance to "pile on" on his behalf.

That is the plan.

Yes, please. If anything this thread should be used to comment on my failings. Not anyone else's.

No worries. If folks do not like the fact that I hold an opinion counter to their own and that I am willing to defend it, as unpopular as that may be, then that's no skin off my nose.
I think the kind of back and forth we had on that thread helped me to understand your position a lot better than the kind of veiled insults above.
Its better to go back and forth until we reach some form of clarity.
You did nothing wrong in my view. You hold a strong opinion and the fact that you wish to defend it is a quality I believe to be positive. It can lead to a solid dialogue.
I don't see it as a failing at all.

Methinks Crosswiredmind like the challenge of the argument for its own sake. ;)
I actually want to understand the perspective of others. I also want people to understand my perspective. There are times when this requires a series of posts. That may seem like an argument at times but I do not do it just to argue.

Yes you do.
;P
M: I came here for a good argument.
A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'
A: Yes it is!
M: No it isn't!
A: Yes it is!
M: Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of any statement the other person makes.
(short pause)
A: No it isn't.
M: It is.
A: Not at all.

Hey, Crosswiredmind -
If the back-and-forth reached a point where the other participant felt it had gotten sufficiently out of hand that he felt a need to start a new thread apologizing to the community for his participation in the back-and-forth...
Then it's probably not a very socially acceptable thing to come into that new thread and start a new back-and-forth thing...
Just sayin'.

Since my character was being questioned by posters to this thread and since I felt it inappropriate to communicate with disenchanter on the other thread are you suggesting that I had no right to communicate here?

Nope. And if you look above, I'm also the one who asked them to cut out the "pile-on" on you just after this thread got started.
I'm just saying that there's no need to keep this one going, on either side.
And hopefully, folks like Stedd Grimwold and Fake Healer will also desist from keeping this one going.
And Fakey, yes, I saw your wink ;) but I think at this point it might be better not to stir the pot. Just my opinion, and a personal request. I've been on the receiving end of one of these recently, and even when people are posting with all signs of good humor, it's still a pile-on, and it's still an unpleasant thing.

Just because you are a character, doesn't mean you have any character.

I meant argument in the context of a debate...You state a premise and support it with your "arguments". Somebody else rebuts your arguments. Rinse repeat.
edit: i read further down and see that you know the difference between arguement and arguing. Apparently you thought I meant you like arguing. I don't. Clarification:
I think you like DEBATE (advocacy and argument).

I do too, but every time I watch it something really weird happens.
So, I guess it's bad luck to be superstitious.

Pretty funny, added that site to my list of web comic favorites.
Thanks.

Cool, apologizing for stuff is good. Its very cathartic. Good for the karma, good for the soul. Every so often, you've just got to do this or else it builds up inside and then one day - BOOM - your head explodes, spraying everyone nearby with gray matter, blood, and bone. Trust me, I've seen it happen.
So, while we're apologizing for stuff, here's a list from me:
- Vincent, sorry about the leg. Does it still hurt in the winter?
- Oh yeah, and that thing with your sister – I swear it was her idea.
- Mom - that broken plate in ’77. Sorry, that was me, not George.
- I’m sorry, dad, for that thing with the lawnmower.
- Ted, better luck next time.
- George, sorry about the ’77 plate incident. You were just 2, but I had to blame someone.
- Uncle Jack, the hair piece REALLY does look natural.
- Yancy....well, you know.
- Larry, for the last time, I had nothing to do with your cat’s demise.
- I love cats....seriously.
- Vincent, one other thing. It really was green.
- Ed, I was just kidding about that fungus thing.
- Sally, no, those jeans don’t make your ass look fat.

Cheer up! "One lapse in judgment does not a poor character make."
Thank you guys (gals?). But I am not down or depressed.
I am not exactly sure how or why, but I realized I crossed the line. It happens. (There is a reason I chose the Fire Giant avatar. ) And when that happens, it is time to own up to my actions.
That is it.
