Currently everyone seems to have made up her/ his mind and starts assuming what others think and like. That's dangerous: The next step would be to tell others what they shoud think and prefer...
So please be nice and keep listen to each other. ;-)

Just speaking about my group:
Age 30 -40, all very deeply caught up by their jobs and families. Our RPG evenings are about the only time they have the opportunity to occupy with DnD. Yet they love the rp evenings and struggle hard to attend all of them.

They love the game, the combats, enthralling plots, and to varying degrees to roleplay. What they couldn't care less about, are stat upgrades. They are thrilled by the prospect of levelling up, but in doubt they would prefer any evening spent playing over spending the time doing stats..

In addition they dislike high level characters. It probably comes down to the point that they prefer playing over discussing rule details. They wouldn't ever play WoD - too much roleplaying for their taste. But they would like to play out their pcs for a lomger time. And I do so, too, for due to the time issue most of the effort of 'bookkeeping' is DM duty.

And due to my job and my non roleplaying gf I would like to receive as much (time saving) help by Paizo products as possible.

Some of the proposals made sound very helpful to me:
* GM modules at similar levels as the current AP and insertable into APs (but NOT as 'mandatory' parts of an AP)
* side bars and gazetteers flashing out the area, offering side track hooks and interesting npcs, therefore helping to improvise.

Ok, once again too many cents in one posting ;-),

That's like saying "We don't drink Kool-Aid because we don't like cherry." :P

You can have a combat-heavy WoD game. The game doesn't dictate how much you fight or roleplay. It does have its own way of making characters - in that case, you'll have very little bookkeeping.

Just to chime in on this thread. I too would like to throw my support behind the current format of Pathfinder. An arc that goes from lvl 1-15 is probably (at least for my group and my own tastes) the best fit. I did not subscribe to Runelord as I was still running STAP but I did quite like what I saw (enough to get onboard for Crimson Throne). My Savage Tide campaign with some tweaks actually ended on the cusp of lvl 15. The high level stuff was just beginning to reach the point of annoyance and it took us just about a year to get through to that point (On average of playing once every other week with some hiatus time). I had enjoyed reading the abyssal adventures and did incorporate elements of them but I don't think I would've enjoyed running them (aside from the toe to toe with Demogorgon). Additionally, a lvl 1-15 arc should provide enough flexibility that people can condense, extend or what have you. I know with STAP I did add side treks, and other things as the progression was much slower as I reduced a lot of the non-plot combat encounters. Well that's my vote for the status quo.

p.s. though I would like to see more gamemastery modules that are interconnected. A two part or three parter would be nice. (I'm assuming the Last Baron modules are somehow linked?)

p.p.s. 1 out of 3 adventure paths with a save the world device is a pretty good ratio I thought.

Just as a note: RotRL's final episode does not end at 15th level, it begins at 15th level. It's a longish adventure and I suspect most groups will be 17th-18th when they finish.

Spoiler:

The BBG is CR21, so they'd better be.

I had thought from the ads that the path was 1-15, and I was surprised and a bit disappointed to find out it's 1-17.

We abandoned AoW at 17th and SCAP at 15th. So far RotRL has run better than either, but the now-17th level PCs in my game are too high level for my tastes.

I am profoundly grateful it wasn't written 1-20, though.

Mary

I had thought the PC's would end up at 15th to fight the BBEG. I'm a little dissapointed actually but aw well.
