Hey everyone. I am gonna start a new ST campaign in the near future and a lot of my players are die hard lizardfolk fans and finally want to try to play some. Thus i would like to enlarge the number of lizardfolk in the AP and introduce more interactions with them as well as a larger variety.
First thing, there are three lizardfolk races in the MM and MM3, but are there any other? I know there is a very old dragon magazine with a number of lizardfolks in it, are they converted to 3.5 anywhere? Or are there other lizardfolks somewhere? I will substitute the Bullywugs for some kind of lizardfolks, so i need some varieties that might act as allies and some that are possible enemies.
Second, with the exception of Serpent kingdoms (i know its an FR book) are there any other sources for lizardfolk stuff?

I found I2: The Tomb of the Lizard King, to be very useful for inspiration for my homebrew. Fiendish Lizardfolk, Lizardfolk wights, and Sakatha, a Vampire Lizardfolk, who makes a good arch-villian. There are conversions for I2 online .. S.H. Jones did a really good one... but I had to have the old module for it to all make sense.

Thank a lot. Those are some wonderful suggestions. I think i will change some olman tribes on the way to the island of dread to lizardfolks and populate some parts of the island itself with a few additional lizardfolks. I have found a very old article in dragon #2XX (forgot the right issue) which had a number of alternative lizardfolk, but sadly they are all 2ed. Does anyone know, where one could find conversions of these or has anyone done them himself?

Lizardfolk are one of the allowed races in my STAP, and I do have one dusk-lizard PC in the campaign. I am interested in what the variants were (article you mentioned is before I had Dragon subscription). As a herper though I would also be happy to stat one out for use, so let me know which lizard you were interested in. I think the basic lizard folk is iguana in flavor, but chameleons, basilisks, anoles, and my personal favorite prehensile-tailed skink are suitable for the tropical environ of STAP.
You might also look at Savage Species for the lizard-animorph and the reptilian template, kobolds and catfolk crunch could be easily fluffed into lizard folk.

Here's one I'm thinking of--I have to admit I find phanatons cute but I don't actually want a bunch of cuddly critters in my game. (one of the things I don't like about D&D is the sheer volume of intelligent races with no relation to one another crowding the globe) I may have a group of lizardfolk (which is more consistent with my overall campaign) that have adapted to live in trees.

heh Phanaton is the second non-standard race I have allowed (bullywug is the third.) After the mad little one in Kraken's cove, three of my players were wanting to play one. Not exactly cute and cuddly that one. What with the big teeth and tentacles and 'shut up big things I am going to eat you' attitude. O:)
