Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Dear Paizo...

I am really impressed with Pathfinder, both in the quality of the writing and the artwork, layout and other aspects of production.

However, one of the things I loved about Dungeon magazine was that there was some variety. In particular, there was almost always one or more adventures that my son (now 11) and I could play together. I've also used material in a kids D&D group that I run at my local library.

I appreciate the Lovecraft-esque feel to much of the current adventure. But a lot of this path isn't something that will appeal to him (at least, not for a few years, yet).

Part of our disappointment comes from the wonderful treatment of the goblins in the first issue. Every now and then, I catch junior singing the goblin chant. But the Skinsaw murder cult was very different, even jarring.

I'd like to continue to subscribe, but without knowing what the themes will be and whether they're appropriate makes me think twice, especially given the new price.

Is there some way that we subscribers can get enough of a preview to know if we'll be able to play these adventures with younger players? Have you considered publishing shorter side-adventures that tie into the adventure paths and the setting?

I miss Dungeon, and if the current stuff that WotC's put online is any indication, they're version isn't going to live up to Paizo's excelent standards.

Thanks for all your great prodcuts and contributions to gaming!

Check out the GameMastery Modules - they're quite good and shorter than the Pathfinder adventures. They're still in the same world setting as Pathfinder, but not as setting-dependent.

there are also a few threads about making the various PFs more kid-friendly that you may want to pa rouse.(I know theres at least 1 or two on skinsaw murders, and I think that there is one for HMM too[I'm at work, otherwise I'd find them for you])

Seven Swords and Conquest of Bloodsworn Vale both take place near/in Varisia. Granted they both take place closer to where AP2 is going to be, but still, they're usable.

You can also take D0, D1, and E1 and translocate them to Varisia (even though it's not where they take place.) There's that big island on the western edge of the Varisian Gulf, it's got the Hollow Mountains. No reason why you can't make them the Falcon's Hollow Environs seen in D0, D1, and E1. It's also a nice boat ride away from Sandpoint. ;)

Thanks for the tips. I'll see if I can find the threads you mention, Cpt_kirstov.

Where are you seeing info about upcoming adventures and Adventure paths, SirUrza?

There's this page. And there's also... this page, to see what's planned up to as much as a year from now. The teaser blurbs for each one tell you at least a little bit about what they're going to be about. Scroll down the list to see the entire collection of products coming up.

And you may be happy to know that a group of us writers that have often written for Dungeon in the past and Paizo's current products are working on plans to get some kid friendly/less adult themed adventures out to folks like you (and me) that want to share the D&D experience with their children without having to worry about content that may not be suitable for them. This is the writing group.
