Dumb question

Shackled City Adventure Path

This may seem like a simple question but since I can't ask the gm's I know (most of which are in my group) I thought I would post here. When Fario and Fellian join the party do I then split the xp 8 ways and bump the parties ecl by 2 more? (I have six players)

Depends - are they full-on participating 'DM-PCs'? If so, absolutely. I'm not quite sure of what you're referring to with 'party ECL' exactly - xp division IIRC is done by individual critter divvied by # of combatant PC's. (I'd guess party ECL is a way to figure what they can theoretically handle.)

With six PCs in your group, and no copy of the SCAP at my fingertips, dare I presume Fario and Fellian are plants destined to betray them - say, in the midst of the night, morning stars eager to mash skull, ropes at the ready to attach to saddle of dog to be drug through the city streets in posthumous humiliation?

Though I like the way you think, Turin, there's another solution in the AP.

Spoiler:
Fario and Fellian aren't plants, but neither are they actually supposed to join the party for any length of time. They're mostly for use as convenient deus ex machinas, bailing the party out when things get too rough. They're not actually supposed to be PC's, so they probably don't get any of the XP. If your party is getting ahead of the curve, though, you might want to cut them in.

I found that the 2 where not very effective in combat as compaired to the party so I didn't award them any xp or count it against the party. When the party asked Shensen to join the Party I did take 1 share of xp away for the 3 stirders as together they equal more than a party member. Otherwise I would just considder them like Cohorts that level when their leader levels.

I also had them hang back searching everywhere they went so that if the party could handle an encounter then they where not even there, only comming forward when the party needed help.
