Who or What is A Grognard?

I've seen this word "grognard" used in a couple of posts here. But I am not very clear as to its exact meaning.

Friends, can you help me answer: "Who or What is A Grognard?"

Perhaps more helpfully, it comes from a French word for "grumbler" and referred to members of the Napoleonic-era "Old Guard". On this board, it refers to curmudgeons who have been gaming since the Neolithic age and have lots of anecdotes about old games and systems.
