The points of light idea...well I think its a good idea. I just don't know if I like it in practice.
There are a lot of various concepts that look good as just that, but when its applied..especially to an established game world, not so much.
I think WotC is going to need to be very careful in how this 'idea' is applied or there are going to be more upset gamers than there are now.
I really couldn't care less about FR, one of the reasons I thought the comic was so funny. I play Greyhawk and I am going to leave Greyhawk as a secondary campaign and move my main stuff to Golarion here soon, so a good deal of this stuff doesn't affect me in any way.
As far as 'points of light' being the core 4th Ed. situ, well that is going to need to be looked at once we have it I think. Maybe they aren't doing quite what we think they are, I'm not sure. I still think WotC needs to work on their Public Relations department (i.e. someone needs a 'Performance Review....').

I always thought that the Western Heartlands and the North (mabye pre 3.x) were points of light..Lots of wilderness, city-states far and few between.
I mean that whole area between Dragonspear Castle and the Evermoors..
And its not like the Dalelands where jam-packed with people. At least that's the way I played the Realms.
Maybe portal everywhere ruined that *shrug* or developing regional books took away the 'distant' feel that you got from the Old Grey Box.
For me...no need to do this again. It's been done.

Mortellan the evil Stirge has come to my postings! Know Despair!!!
Awesome. I can't plug your stuff enough Mortellan, I visit your site at least a few times a week just to check things and most of the time I find something to laugh about. The strange thing is, while it is a comic, I have actually walked away with insights about how I should run both clergy and deities themselves from the site. Ironic eh?
Keep it up Mortellan.

Thanks again! I'm glad I can be entertaining and informative as well. The latter part I can't take all the credit for though because my commentary and links are derived from the greyhawk content put out by everyone from Wizards to Paizo to even my homebase canonfire.com. I just put into sharper focus perhaps.
