I think we all know how that is. First you're like, "Yum, do I smell Cheetos?" and then you quickly realize you're surrounded by 400 gamers in trenchcoats that haven't been washed since The Matrix. I know this isn't a kind comparison, but it's apt.
Except F. Wesley Shneideblestein. He smells like orange blossoms. Too bad he doesn't hit the clubs more often.

Ahh yes, gamer funk, the living, walking proof that all the soap and deodorant commercials don't hit every segment of the population...

For your consideration: Gamer Soap.

Indeed!
Now, I knew about Willow's soaps, however, I fear that even this product is lost on a lot of gamers (I know, I know, it's a stereotype, unfortunately it's a TRUE stereotype where some gamers are concerned).Luckily I'm not one of those suffering from this lack of hygiene, but boy oh boy have I met some serious "Gamer Funk of the Year"-nominees through the years (even had a friend who started drifting that way, until we had an intervention).
Edit: Sorry about the threadjack, but I have to spend the time doing something until my credit card gets back "online" on Monday so I can have my order processed and download Hook Mountain!).

And that is_much_ appreciated - the last issue took all of three weeks to hike to Central Europe. This way one can plan ahead and enjoy it much sooner... and still appreciate the glossy fresh magazine when the mail finally arrives...

Umm, what do you say to a friend who might meet these descriptions? Should you say/do anything or just let things ferment?
It might be a bit insulting or humiliating if everyone ends up getting the guy a can of deodorant/spray or even soap for christmas...

Like I wrote above, I actually had a friend who had started down this dirty and smelly road. We decided to have an "intervention" to save our friend, although we decided that it shouldn't be an "all against one" sit down.
So I had a man to man talk with him, pointed out the problem and told him that it was also in his own interest to do something about it (i.e. attract girls). It all depends on the relationship you have with the person(s) in question, but pull them aside at one point (not during a game) and just take a calm and mellow talk with him. Make it a bit humorous too if you can, the key is that the other person doesn't feel like it's a direct attack on his person(ality), but that you're genuinely trying to help him out.Admittedly, some people will react strongly (negatively) to any kind of suggestion concerning their hygiene habits, but that's where it's important to know the other person, do it in a non-threatening manner and make sure that the one who does the talking is someone that person has some kind of trust in.
