Players;

Spoiler:

I think I agree with Arctaris on this one. While it has been fun role-playing my characters self-restraint, most of the time due to direct intervention from Lucienne, He hasn't been doing "what it takes to get the job done". He is a good person, and wants to help others. But that doesn't mean he is 'nice'.

Let's get out of this madhouse, and then see what we can find. ;)

I've noticed a few more for players spoilers than i would like, If you would like a purely player discussion thread I can start a more concentrated Dming discussion/information thread or just put the rest in the IC thread, althought I'd perfer not to do that.

If it a desire for secrecy, I can understand if not entirely sympathize, If I'm not surposed to know what your saying I can't really correct any erroneous assumptions I may (or in this case will not) see.

just an idea. I don't mind either way, if you feel the Dm is ruining your vast scheming.

Given the death of a party member under somewhat unexpected (though I suppose not entirely unavoidable) circumstances, we are rightly doing a bit of post mortum to see if or how our characters' approach needs to change. Putting something under a spoiler tag tends to ensure that the desired audience takes it in a more personal context as communication directed to them and not spammed to the world at large.

Nothing is intended to be secret. There is nothing mean-spirited, insulting, or even critical behind any of the spoilers.

even if it is no critical, just the desire for a more private thread (Ie one not advertised in the game thread) you guys can arrange that as well.

just a thought.

Male Impoverished Student 2/Amateur Chef 3

Nothing secretive really, spoilers kind of add gravity to a discussion and also ensure that everyone who is supposed to read something does in fact read it. I don't think we really need a strictly players discussion thread.

Agreed with the above, not trying to be sneaky, (kind of hard when you announce it anyway!) just re-evaluating character motivations, etc. I don't think a separate thread for that is called for.

Sorry if we gave you an impression otherwise. :)

Dark Archive

Agree with the above posts of Arctaris and Ragadolf.

Anyways, I got a question: do we have Lucienne raised? If yes, how do we preserve her body?

That could be dicey, especially depending on what this new-comer does.

Dark Archive

If we can return to sharn before the lapse of twenty four hours, I think we won't have too much problem relative to decomposition.

That said, I seem to recall that there is a priest of transition in sharn who can cast raise dead. we just have convince her to do so.to

Dark Archive

For Ragadolf:

Spoiler:
Did you get Akallabeth's name from the Silmarillion? Just curious.

I think if WE can't get out of here in less than 24 hours, we have bigger problems than decomposition to worry about. I don't know about Rom, but I'm almost out of spell-juice. We are ALL injured, and Luc and Maddock are/were the only ones who can use that wand! Even if we can get some rest for a spell recharge, (Or we just go to blasting with wands), we are still gonna be running on a few HP each.

IN the books, this is where the heroes, outnumbered and injured, come up with a brilliantly clever plan to out WIT their adversaries, and escape without a further scratch,...

UNfortunately, I'm a much better FAN of those books than I am a writer,... suggestions?!?

Radavel- Yes. Well, not so much from the Sillmarillion as from one of the dozen of reference books put out ABOUT the entire series that my father had collected. :) I was perusing one of the larger ones back in HIgh School, and thought that the translation (basically 'Dark one' or Dark Prince' If i recall), was pretty cool, and I've used it off & on ever since.

perhaps its the part of the series that involves a mentor and the gradual powering up threw montage...

just a thought ;-)

Hey, I make as much fun of them as everyone else, but I graduated HS in the 80's. I'm a PRODUCT of the 'training montage', I love it! :)

I surpose the question is, will everyone try to push threw this in a 7 day in game time, or will they take the longer game. Should be interesting.

Male Impoverished Student 2/Amateur Chef 3

Either way is fine by me. I'm cool with a training montage.

time for questions qeueries and clarifications. its a lot of text and its not their to confuse but to lay out things for you. If you have questions over something that has already been covered you can ask for clarification either here or ic, new questions I would perfer go Ic and perferably before you begin training which i do plan on montaging more than a little. and yes if it takes a montage its probably gonna be eating into your save lucienne time, so if you want to give it a go for a week and then montage, we can do that too.

happy hunting.

Logos

just so everyone knows by montage scene I mean weeks if not months of training, not days.

it will defintely be beyond the raise dead level (althought next up is like years per level which is not nearly so bad.

Logos

AH! good to know,

Ok all survivors, vote time, do we do the 'hard way' which we will get us done in time to (I hope) Get Luc raised, or 'Montage time', which will take longer in game time, so we have to look for a person who can cast Resurrection instead of Raise Dead?

Male Impoverished Student 2/Amateur Chef 3

I'd like to get her back in time to be raised but I don't think that's practical. Without Maddock or Lucienne we don't have any healing capabilities, we're all wounded (some of us badly), and the woman who took her body looks to be more than we can handle. My vote's to train up and then deal with finding someone to Resurrect her. I'll go with whatever the majority is though.

I'm inclined to agree with you Arc, on all counts.
Just a note, Unless I'm mistaken, a 'majority' now consists of 2 out of 3!
:)

OOps! sorry, 3 out of 4!

I never could count! :P

Dark Archive

I'm inclined to concur with the majority.

In other words,

"I'm with you fellers!"

Dark Archive

I also concur with that....

montage complete.

Dark Archive

Just to be clear. We can update our character sheets to level 4, right?

yes indeed

woo-hoo! :)

Dark Archive

Alright!!!!

Male Impoverished Student 2/Amateur Chef 3

Shiny! I'll level Aerianna up soon and update her with your mod.

new toys never hurt anyone, time to go make an impression on my world mmmmkay!

Dark Archive

Iaijutsu is based on what ability?

wis, sorry my bad

Dark Archive

Can the training given by the barkeep allow me to redistribute skill points I've spent on Bluff? I've never used that skill in the game and it seems to be out of place considering Romulus' personality.

normally I'd say no but its a message board game, so please go ahead.

same goes for anyone, if they want to tweak the skill point distribution a little now is the time to do it.

Dark Archive

Thanks. Really appreciate that :D

Regarding your offer of "4 bonus skill points or a Weapon Focus" May I take a Weapon Familiarity: Martial (Or at least 'Swords') instead? This could reflect the martial aspect of his training, and he would love to be able to USE his mentor's 'True Strike' Sword he has been carrying all this time!

Now that I have a target for my mentor's sword, I'd love the chance to actually HIT him with it! (Without the -4 to hit from not having the weapon familiarity.)

I will update the character sheet asap. Thanks!

:D

I'll offer weapon familurity:longswords

Logos wrote:

Then I will accept, Thank you!

(MAkes perfect sense, since that's what he's carrying!) :)

Again, will update character asap. Having to do actual WORK at work right now. Figgers,... :P

Before we assault the 'mini-castle', I just wanted to make sure we are all on the same page.
'Lucienne' was much better at this, but here goes, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong,...

1) The 'mini-castle' is the control area of the castle, correct?
We need access to it if we are to return this castle to the 'real world'.

2) The 'shrubbery' is the control/power source for the castle, we need them to return the castle to the real world.

3) The 'shrubbery' was stolen, and I believe lies in the LOWER portion of the castle, as far as we know? (This is where I get fuzzy) We need to find them and return them to the control area.

4) Lucienne's mother, (Now a vampire) and her boyfriend, (The same vampire that killed my mentor/father figure), have LUcienne's body. (We ARE going to get it back!) :) AND are in command of the control area.
BUT, they are ALSO looking for the shrubbery, so that they can return to the real world.
So, a frontal assault may not be needed. IF we find teh shrubbery FIRST, they will likely let us just walk in for an audience.

Now, I have no intention of letting this evil free upon the world again, and I doubt they would let us live even if they promised to, so I see an undead-smackdown coming either way. I'm just wondering if it wouldn't easier to find teh shrubbery first, THEN pay them a visit, knowing we will at least get an audience, than to assault the entire 'twinkie brigade' and have to wipe them all out, and STILL have to find the shrubbery!

Just my thoughts, please correct me on any parts where I have misunderstood, or add anything important that I missed!

Thanks!

1> The Mini castle is the gatehouse to the upper castle, presumably within somewhere is a control like area if there is one.

2> Yes, but shrubberies, there are two , one of light and one of darkness.

3> the shrubberies were stolen, but are still in the castel somewhere althought not in the middle. You need to find them and do something with them.

4> this is the sketchiest of your points, luciennes mother who appears to be a vampire, and her boyfriend appear to be holed up in the upper layer.

They must already have a way back and forth , as YOU made your way into the castle, and secondly the castle is 10,000 years old and lucienne and by extension her mother and your master is not. The boyfriend already has a way out into the real world, and uses it occassionaly or this whole set up would make even less sense then it does.

as for your last little bit whether its annihilate the twinky brigade or find the shrubberies first its all the same isn't it. Addition doesn't matter which way its going, 2+1 and 1+2 = 3. Its only a matter of preferences.

Thank you, that clarifies it better for me!

How about the others, any questions, or shall we proceed with "Operation Annihilate Twinkie Brigade"?

(I love the nicknames we have ended up giving to all of these NPC's!)

Frankly, I was hoping to be slapping them around by now.

But, I guess we are retreating until Chris can get back up to speed.

I still vote to go up first, if only because we're likely to learn more by going after the head - at least we know who the bigs are in that direction.

Perhaps Lucienne will come back with some info that will persuade us to tackle something else first. On the other hand, if she knows her way around in there, going into the castle might be the easiest.

hey does someone have chris's email so i can let him know to check the forums?

I thought he had posted it but i can't seem to find it now.

Hi, folks. Logos has gotten ahold of me. (And now I know his / her true name; bwa ha hah!)

We're still figuring things out.

As does everyone else he emailed.

Glad to have Lucienne back Chris.

Just wanted to confirm that Lucienne's kit was stripped before the pick up of the corpse, by kegi and the barkeep. The Lady picked up essentially a magically nude body when they did.

I'm sure chris can help with the contents,

Welcome back Chris! (And Lucienne of course!)

Yes, without searching back through the posts, I'm pretty sure I remember Kegi saying something about that. I think he was looking for potions and such to help us with.
