I was going through Tomb of Abysthor and I recall the gnoll village mentioned got detailed in Bard's Gate, but it also mentions Wrath of Orcus.
My understanding is this never got published in print or pdf, is that correct?
Anyone know if it might be done in 4E?
You are correct - it's never been published in any way.
No announcements for it showing up in 4e.

I cant remember the details on this but it was mentioned on the Necro boards somewhere. Basically the module was supposed to have a massive war in it using new rules for mass combat. Due to some event or another these rules never transpired in time and so the project was scraped. I would take a gander at the Necro boards though. They have a good community, with lots of nifty stuff and ideas.

Hi guys.
Wrath of Orcus was a grand plan from way back in teh day. The idea of WoO was a large scale battle between the forces of good from Bards Gate and the priests of Orcus from the Stoneheart Mountain Dungeon (aka the Tomb of Abysthor) with a Guns of Navaronne style mission for the PCs. So I needed mass combat rules. Originally, I had an agreement with WotC (Keith Strohm at the time) to do the product with a Chainmail tie in--which you may recall was the original 3E minis game. I was even going to get to put a cool "Chainmail" logo on the cover. But they changed that game from a mass combat game to a skirmish game--you see, Chainmail was initially planned as the mass combat rules for 3E but that changed in development. That didnt work for me fo course, so that got shelved. I tried to resurrect the adventure several times when different mass combat rules came out. First Mongoose did some good rules in a book of theirs (not normally a big Mongoose guy, didnt like much of their product line focus, but I have to give credit where it is due and their mass combat rules were pretty good). But I didnt think that product had enough penetration to refer to and I didnt want to have to reprint the mass combat rules. Then Monte Cook did his (name of book escapes me) but by then the product was so far out. I think at one point I posted my rough notes for the adventure on our website (or intended to).
So, no, Wrath has never seen print.

Orcus, any chance you will post any of those notes after all? Next summer is a long way away and those of us with some imagination can find a way to use our own mass combat system or modify an existing one. I am a huge fan of the 1st edition feel of Necromancers modules, so much so, I have added them as distractions in my own campaign arc (for when the group wants a break from the campaign for a bit and go dungeon romping).
