Ask and ye shall receive. Or the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Or the early bird gets the worm. Or something like that.

Anyway. The big news is that you can now download Pathfinder #1 as a single PDF file or multiple files. Check your My Downloads page.

Thanks, Gary. Once again, you rock. :)

Well, that´s great. I like the bookmarks best. Well done!

Wow!

You're the best!

Thank you -- it works great!

We've also added bookmarks to the multi-file version. (If the multiple-file version shows that it has already been personalized, you'll need to repersonalize it before you can download the newly bookmarked version.)

Thanks Gary, Sarah, James Davis and Vic :)

Paizo has, by far, the best customer service of any business I've ever dealt with.
Thank you for listening to your customers and then going one step further.

Many thanks to the Paizo staff for listening to your customer base. It's not every company that would spend man hours and resources making relatively minor changes to a product that has already been released. Kudos to everyone there.

This is great news.

Thanks very much Paizo. I definitely appreciate being heard as a customer.

Great service delivered on great products, like always.

Thanks!!

Thanks Paizo, very nice indeed.

I like having Pathfinder PDFs in volumes as per the printed product, but also like being able to collect (for example) monsters from all volumes into one folder. Now I have the freedom to to both!

You guys rock!

Okay.... Thank you, Sarah, James Davis and Vic--you lass and lads rock, too. :)

Yes, thanks to all involved! It's nice indeed having both versions.

This is just one more example of Paizo showing that they listen to the customer...their forums aren't just for blind griefing.

If you've got a new PC with lots of memory and a high end graphics card with subprocessor, my initial wild-@$$ guess would be that maybe you're running a lot of processes in the background. Does your computer load up a bunch of stuff into the systray on startup? If so, you might try going through and shutting them off when you read your pdfs. The fewer other things your computer has to think about at the same time, the more resources it can pour into trying to process and display the pdf image.

The high end graphics card is probably not helping with a big, graphics intensive pdf like Pathfinder. Programs only hit the graphics subprocessor when they're told to do so. Video game programs expecting to use a graphics subprocessor are written to do so, I'm not sure that Acrobat Reader is.

Thank you, this is much appreciated :)

Damn, you guys seriously take Customer Service to the next level. Thanks for this effort!

Thank you ALL for the updates.
I can't wait to get home and try it out!

On the above note, I had to buy a new PC last week, also a dual-core with 2 gigs of ram, but only an onboard vid card. I'll let you know if the PDF lags.

Thank you all again Paizo. I know you can't please everybody, but thank you for trying!

Are you using Adobe Reader 8? It's way faster than older versions.

You're probably passing the zip file to Stuffit Expander, which hasn't been terribly reliable (or, to my mind, even useful) in years.

Instead of opening the .zip file with Stuffit Expander, try control-clicking it, then from the contextual menu, chose "Open with >" and select "BOMArchiveHelper.app". This triggers the unzipping utilities built into Mac OS X, which are more reliable than Stuffit Expander.

If this works, you can change it permanently by control-clicking any zip file, choosing "Get Info" from the contextual menu, and under "Open with:" selecting BOMArchiveHelper.app, and then clicking the "Change All..." button.

You may also need to go into Expander's preferences and uncheck the box that tells it to make itself the default application for .zip files (which is probably why you're having this problem in the first place; without Expander's evil meddling, you'd have been using BOMArchiveHelper by default.)

I found Foxit reader to run much smoother. I think Acrobat is just bloated.

Also, Adobe checks for updates all the time. Try switching that off. Just an idea.

Yup... Using Adobe Reeader 8... And so far it has been way slower then older versions...

ANy suggestions anyone?..

I will foxreadit.. but like to stick to adobe if possible

Yes! Definitely much more enjoyable as a single file! No lags on my MacBook Pro, either!

Got to test drive the new single-file version last night.
MUCH easier for personal use, LOVE the bookmarks. Can't get anybetter for me.
I can, however, see how the multi-file would be easier for Dm's who do a lot of prep work on the PC prior to game time.
As far as operation goes, Like I mentioned before, I have a brand-new (like, one week old) PC with Vista, (BOO!) dual-core processors at 2.4 and 2 gigs of ram, but only an onboard video card. I have no problem opening up the file or bouncing from page to page with the bookmarks either. If i switch pages VERY quickly, it sometimes takes a split second to load the graphics, other than that its smooth.
I am using the newest download for Adobe 8, tho I like firefox and might try their reader.

One interesting note, I have always used some version of the adobe reader, but unless I was using my work version of the complete Acrobat, I have never been able to manipulate images or text from a PDF before. Now I can. Huh, go figure.

Of course, I haven't yet tried to actually copy entire pages or half pages, text, maps, et al to another page and keep it all intact. Is that doable? I always thought that was only a full-version Acrobat or similar thing?

One more question, in my downlods section there are now 4 downloads, it looks like the single & multi-file versions are both listed twice. Did I miss a post explaining that there are now 4 versions?!? Or did I just get a bonus? (or "Lagniappe" as we say down in Louisiana)

Thank you all at Paizo, I repeat myself, I know that you can't please EVERYbody, but thanks for trying!

Thanks!... Foxit reader is about 100x better... I could not believe the difference.

Am I the only one who liked the multi-file format of the pdf?

Silver Crusade

the multi-file has grown on me, very nice to open foxit & find burnt offerings or sandpoint & just click it to open it, quick, convenient.

question thou, is there a way to download a chapter? I must have not transfered that chapter/files over from winzip, the Thassalonia (sp) chapter & I'd hate to download the entire file just for that.

Sorry—you'll have to do that.
