Pathfinder--the movie?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Liberty's Edge

That movie didn't have any goblins or Sand Point devils or nothin.
It just had a bunch of vikings with horns on their helmets.
I don't think these guys read Leif Ericksson's Saga.
It wasn't as bad as the Dungeons and Dragons movie, but...sheesh!

Poor Bruce Campbell, he just can't catch a break. :(

I just went and test drove a Nissan Pathfinder. I checked in the glove box - no goblins. I checked under the rear seat - no hot tattooed chicks. What a ripoff. NO SALE!

I am naming one of the goblins Nissan Dogslayer.

Liberty's Edge

Nissan has a mohawk, and he jumps on the hoods of semi's like Wez in the Road Warrior, to kill the bulldog hood ornament.

I actually drive a Nissan Pathfinder. :)
And I did see the movie Pathfinder (or as I like to call it: Eomer vs. psycho vikings). I kinda liked it.

With a review like this, how can you lose?

The Worst Movie I've Ever Been Dumb Enough to Pay to See, 14 April 2007

If for any crazy reason you saw a trailer for Pathfinder and thought, "hey, cool, a viking movie!" stop right there. This movie totally blew; it blew long and hard and I got no satisfaction from it at all. I actually found myself thinking, "hmm.... should we just leave?" I've never walked out of a movie theater, I still haven't, but that was the closest I've ever come.

The good parts- There was a scene where a guy got his face slashed and the eyeball fell out onto the ground and stared up at him... that was kinda cool. The viking costumes were kinda cool too. There was some good cinematography though- which leads me to the bad parts.

The bad parts- The editing was absolutely abysmal. My 6 year old niece could've done better with some safety shears and a roll of scotch tape. There were these massive avalanche scenes and some nice panoramic shots that quite obviously did not come from the same stock as the rest of the movie (picture Ed Wood's stampeding buffalo) Most of the fight scenes were so badly edited you weren't sure who was slashing whom and if a hit was palpable or not. In one Ramboesque sequence I wasn't sure if there were 3 guys or 21 guys that all looked like the same three guys. The score, while not technically horrible in its own rite, did absolutely nothing to convey the story. Character development was mediocre when it wasn't null. Acting- bad to horrible- though in some cases I wasn't sure if it was the fault of the actors so much as the Lucas quality script. Did I mention the horrible washed out filters they used? For a while I thought maybe I was watching a cam of the movie. I can see why they used the filters they used, to a point, all the snow scenes could have gotten overwhelmingly bright; that's why you add some color though- or at least you should. Even some face paint or blood or something.

Anyway, that's my rant.

Pathfinder: The Anime.

My group got together and rented this on DVD, and I still felt like I wasted money. A complete waste of time.

Wasn't as bad as the D&D movie? Could anything be as bad.. wait.. nevermind.. I forgot.. SciFi channel produced a "sequal" to it that was worse.

Pathfinder was pretty terrible when you consider that 300 came out about the same time, and the DVDs were release the same day.

I'm glad I only rented Pathfinder.

Amateur! Not nearly a bad as Robo Vampire. Of course, if you decide to track this movie down and watch it, you do so of your own volition and absolve me of any blame.

Paugh! You and your suggestion spells.

Bah! When I saw this thread title I had such high hopes for it's content. I was thinking that it was a thread of people talking about who would be cast in a pathfinder movie if a movie were to be made from Paizo's fine product.

And yet I find something completely different.

Now normally, I would apologize for threadjacking . . . but this thread sorely NEEDS it.

So come on . . . if it were possible for Paizo to make a movie of Rise of the Runelords, who would be cast in the various roles? Who would be Valeros, Seoni, and the other Iconics? Who would be cast as Nualia, Sheriff Hemlock, and Ameiko?

Come on, I know people will have suggestions.

Liberty's Edge

Lindsey Lohan as Wonder Woman.

Avery Brooks (the commander from DS9) as Sheriff Hemlock would be cool.

You know, there is Anime Studio...I'd just need about an extra ten hours in the day to make it work.

I know. I wish I could draw! :(

Liberty's Edge

Wish you could draw.....good, like I wish. I can draw...;)

For some reason or other I see, in no particular order:
Nathan Fillion as Orik Vancaskerkin
Frances Fisher as Mayor Deverin
Hugh Grant as Aldern Foxglove
Chow Yun Fat as Tsuto Kaijutsu (I just like Chow Yun Fat, honestly)

Can't think of anyone else at the moment.
Who should do Nualia, and Erlyium's voice?

O_o

Your word order confuses me, oh Yoda-like one.

I think you're saying you can draw, though, which fills me with irrational insane jealousy.

Oh, I could totally see that! :D

Hugh Grant's too old to play Foxglove. I think that Ashton Kutcher would fit better, honestly. Plus, it'd be interesting to see him... later.

Nathan Fillion... not so much of a good choice. Orik seems taller, plus not as proactive. Nathan, from his roles in Firefly and Drive, make it so he doesn't fit so well. Not sure who we could use instead, though.

EDIT: Oh, s+!+. Are we doing live-action or anime? I just got lost.

Does it really matter? :) Fantasizing about putting our newest favoritest campaign setting in a movie, whether it be animated or not, is just fun. :)
