I am new to the Savage Tide. A player on of mine wants to belong to the Scarlet Brotherhood Affiliation from Dragon 348. And he is playing a Half-Elf Warlock. I am not sure if I should allow this, basically because I don’t know how mush the Scarlet Brotherhood plays a part in the Savage Tide. What do you think?

One of the Greyhawk sages could cover this better, but afaik, the Scarlett Brotherhood is a group of Sueloise(sp?)racial supremists. I don't have the player's guide handy but I know that his affiliation score won't very good (if he can even join)if he isn't sueloise human.

Yeah, the SB is a Suloise group of racial supremacists. I can't imagine demi-humans being popular w/ them.

If you read the Members section of the affiliation, you'll see that it says "With almost no exceptions, members must be humans of Suel extraction." Due to this I would say that it would not be appropriate for your player to join SB, unless of course he changes his race to human (Suel). Otherwise I would suggest to the player that he'd join either The Seekers or the Witchwardens instead.

Yeah, the racial thing would be a problem flavor-wise for the Brotherhood, for the reasons stated above. As far as the game itself goes, there isn't a whole lot of interaction with the Brotherhood written into the adventurers themselves.
Of course, the Scarlet Brotherhood does have a number of uses if you want to increase their presence by adding content of your own.

There is definitely room to include more Scarlet Brotherhood intruige in Stap. On of my players is an orphan whose original parents were in the brotherhood; I havn't yet developed this idea.

One of my PCs is in the Scarlet Brotherhood though he is a half orc. Physically he outclasses most humans (20 strength) and as a monk he is doing OK. I figure the SB is not above using other races (especially those that are half 'suel') but that Tunit will never get the political ranks he wants. It should not play much once they get to Farshore so I am not concerned, but if I had to he would consistently find other higher ranking monks/assassins ready to 'take him down a peg' for the good of the brotherhood.

Seems Improbable to me. I mean I can see 'using' such a creature but having even a crumb of respect for such an aberration - well that I doubt. Generally I would think being Half-Orc would be a much more direct and obvious threat to the Suel Racial Identity then just being an Orc. I mean did a filthy Orc impregnate a superior Suel female or did some Suel male some how get it into his head to start breeding with Orcs? Either way the character is a living breathing example of an abomination.

Point taken. Since I got no backstory from the character I just assumed the Suel superiority complex did not get in the way (the player is green and I did not want to get in the way of what he wanted to play). The SB (I think) gives an affiliation bonus for being full-blooded suel, so I assumed that there must be non-suels also involved. What does two assumptions make me... Good point though and should give me some fodder for why he can not talk his way out of the blockade in SWW (not that I was worried with a 3 cha :)
