My players like a reason to adventure together beyond being mutually employed by the same bloke who relies on the local watering hole to hire mercenaries. So they created a mostly human party of 1st level PCs who are all affiliated with a local count. ...

... Rounding out the group is Heron, and eladrin ranger who was a childhood friend of Tian and Domna.
An... Eldarin as a 1st level character? Thoughts?
Am I crazy to speculate that eldarin might be replacing/rolling into elves? Perhaps to give elves more of an eldritch elder fey/god-race motif, like the Celtic Sidhe or Norse Alfar? It might be easier to do when Racial abilities spread out over the course of the career instead of all at once +level adjustment.

My bet, especially after the "reorganization" of succubi into devils instead of demons, is that previous naming conventions are only nominally important as an indicator of what something is, i.e. I'm betting the name "aasimar" didn't focus group well, but eledrin did, so its now the name of the "celestial blooded" race, opposite the tiefling.

I agree. That was my assumption as well.

Also, the word is spelt ELADRIN!!!!!
Oh. Um... Sorry.
I mean...
SORRY!!!!!
Edit: Also... good point. I guess I want to see some pattern where I can see they're actually telling us something. Though it does look like they're saying a first level character was able to shoot 3 arrows into a goblin in one round.
