PbP - D2: Seven Swords of Sin - Looking for Players

Gamer Connection

I'm looking to start a PbP game for D2. I'm looking for 4-5 players total, but Eadaro is already in, so I need another 3-4.

This looks like a really cool dungeoncrawl type adventure, and is my favorite GameMastery Module so far. But as a disclaimer, you might want to read James Sutter's Blog Post on August 28thScience in the Dungeon, as there are some sci-fi elements in the adventure. Less so than say Eberron or a Final Fantasy game, but those ancient Runelords had some cool magical toys. Just a heads up in case that is something you are opposed to seeing in DnD.

Once I get some interested players, I'll start a discussion thread, but here are the basic character creation guidelines.

- 7th level characters
- 19 000 gold, only 50% max can be spent on a single item
- 32 point buy
- Dieties from the Pathfinder Player's Guide only
- Every character gets a bonus background feat. This has to be either from the list in the Pathfinder Player's Guide, or from the +2/+2 skill feats in the PHB (ie. Stealthy, Alertness, etc)
- Only Classes & Races from the PHB
- Alternate Class features are allowed from the list of Allowed Books*
- Any feats from the list of Allowed Books is ok.
- Skill Tricks from Complete Scoundrel are in.
- Spells from the Spell Compendium are generally ok, but run them by me first.

*List of Allowed Books:
PHB + DMG + MM (or just use the SRD)
PHB II
Dungeonscape (because its cool and I haven't really gotten to use it)
Complete Series (Warrior, Adventurer, Arcane, Divine, Scoundrel, Champion and Mage)
Spell Compendium

Hmm, I've had two more PbP games die on me this week, so I've got some interest in perhaps a bit of Rogue goodness. I'm really looking for a game that will allow a swordsage, however. I've never played any of the ToB classes (DM'd several, though) and I'd like to see how all that stuff "feels" since it looks like it's coming our way in 4e. But that's not a "must-have" for playing if you just want to stick to core.

Oh, and of course with the whole "lost swords of power" angle, the swordsage just seems like a cool RP fit. Of course, from what I've seen this module is a big meat grinder...

The Exchange

Talion09 I would like to play in this one.

I've just dropped out of one pbp and the chance of 7th level play is great.

Let me know if you want me.

Cheers

Liberty's Edge

I'm in.

Are we going to become red dots on a map a la Gencon?

Yep, I'd think so...

Liberty's Edge

Two things before I make a character:

First of all, this adventure takes place in Varisia, right?

Also, I need a little campaign info before I start.

If there is still room. Count me in. Don't really mind what I play, I'll play whatever is missing.

However, I have read the first third or so of the module, but I am pretty good at distinguishing player knowledge and character knowledge. But if it is still a problem, I understand, and I'll step aside.

If you don't have to have the player's guide to Varisia and there's still a slot open then I'm in. Not sure what I'll play. I'll try to get a concept to you by tonight.

Aguilar SUCKS BTW.

Umm.... What?

Wrong thread perhaps Arctaris?

Too many damn tabs open. Sometimes if I'm trying to create a post in two seperate threads and the tabs are both open at the same times they post on the wrong thread. Sorry about that.

I'd really love to get in on this. I've never played by post before but have plenty of time to check the boards. I'm willing to play any type of character if there is a role that needs to be filled.

Yeah, it happens. No problem.

(Inadvertent) Threadjack over!

You can download the PG to Varisia for free...

And if the swordsage is definitely out, I have my stand-in ready, a Rogue/Fighter that can readily fill both the skill meister and ranged combatant roles.

hmm... I was intending to stick to core races/classes (albeit with alternative class features), but I do like the ToB.

Let me think about it, and I'll let you know later on tonight.

In regards to the adventure being a big PC Killer, today's blog post dispels that reputation somewhat, thematically the encounters are the same, but they've been toned down a bit from the delve at GenCon.

Ok, going by the first to post, we'll fill the roster up with 6 PCs. (1 more than I intended, but 6 is still manageable)

Eadaro (We game together in RL, so he was already recruited)
erian_7
French Wolf
The Eldritch Mr. Shiny
mevers
Arctaris

Michael James - Sorry, but it looks like we already filled up the roster before you posted. I'll have you down as first on the alternate list if someone has to drop out though.

Not a problem, as long as you keep Player vs PC knowledge seperate. I'm playing a PbP game of D0/D1 right now, and am about to start a Pathfinder game, so it would be a little hypocritical of me to object ;-)

Besides, PbP is how I figure I'm going to get to play/DM most of the good stuff that Paizo is putting out. I doubt my RL group will be done Pathfinder before the 2nd Korvosa Adventure Path is done. And lets not even start on the cool Gamemastery Modules. And I haven't gotten to play a single Savage Tide adventure yet...

Too much good stuff, too little to time to RPG. Which is why I'm running this one as a PbP.
