PLAYER SEEKING GAME
I'm a serious player looking for a serious game. I have experience with D&D and GURPS, and I'm definitely willing to learn other Fantasy RPGs. I like a good story most of all and good roleplaying. I like adventures you have to think through and talk through, not just fight through. I like encounters that don't always begin and end with combat. I like starting at 1st level (or whatever) and working my way up. I like details; they keep things interesting. I like teamwork. I like games with more to them than simply killing monsters to accumulate power and wealth; that’s great for mercenaries, but not every player wants to be a mercenary. I actually like rules - to keep things fair, balanced and as easy as possible for the dm (or whatever) – but I don't like games that overdo it by allowing every single option from every single book out there; there are some bad options in some of those supplements that aren’t really necessary or balanced. I don't like muchkins or powergamers; they should be playing video games instead of roleplaying games. I don’t like Monty Hall games; too much too fast makes me feel like I missed something. I don't like looooong or excessive combat. I don't usually like dungeon crawls, unless they’re part of a good story. Overall, I guess I’m not what you’d call a ‘casual’ gamer - I like a little realism in the game and I like to get things done - but that absolutely does NOT mean I don’t like to have fun ;) Finally, I prefer small groups, around 3-5 players, and I can only play Friday nights or Saturdays anytime. I know that’s a lot, but better to know everything up front, right? If there's anyone around here playing a game like this or wanting to start a game like this, let me know. Thanks.
