Okay, let me come right out and state that I love the fact that the All-Seeing Eye has gifted us with new avatars. They're awesome. I love them.

However...

I've noticed that many of Lords of the Boards have started changing avatars now... and it's confusing the crap out of me. Yeah, yeah, I can look up at the name and see who it is, but it's like your best friend shows up one day with extensive plastic surgery. "WTF?"

So far, I've noticed that Wolfgang Baur has ditched the old screaming skull avatar for a blue kobold (fitting, since he's the brains behind Kobold Quarterly, but he was the Ghoul Lord first, dangit!) and Lilith has adopted the new Iggwilv avatar.

Save my sanity! If you have changed your main avatar, post here and let the world know! Maybe I'll be able to reprogram my brain to adapt to the new stimuli. Don't expect it to happen overnight, though. :)

It's almost as bad as when new people pop up and use an "established" person's look-n-feel...

Yeah, my avatar has shown up in a few other places over the years. I think it's fair to say that I've pretty much cornered the market on this one, though.

New avatars...?

Sorry, one of my friends here changes his avatars monthly, so I'm used to it and hadn't noticed.

New avatars, really... I'll have to look into that...

Liberty's Edge

I changed my avatar as soon as this one became available, though I am not sure I am a lord of the board yet...

perhaps a baron, but not a lord

I honestly don't remember what your avatar was beforehand, so I think you're okay. :)

Yeah, every time I see the wolf head, I'm like, "I don't remember posting that." Oh...right. I need to find one just like this but with pink bunny ears.

Steve Greer will always be the S&M mask to me.

Strangely enough, the wolf is one of the more common avatars on the boards. Partly it's because two high profile regulars use it (the Jade and Lisa Stevens), but it also seems to be a popular choice among lurkers.

Or using aliases...

Lisa Stevens uses a different avatar these days.

Oh yeah...I forgot about that...

Thanks.

Well, I'm neither a lord or a baron (despite the handle) maybe a baronet? I've switched up my avatar quite a bit, but I'm happy with this one and shall not be changing it from now on.

You know, it would be really scary at this point if I met, say, Heathansson in person and he looked like... well... a person. Or if Sebastian isn't really bald in real life. And it would be the greatest disappointment of all if I met Nick Logue and he wasn't sprorting a big ol' handlebar mustache!

I've mentioned this before; I'm a white guy with hair (at least, I only occasionally shave my head). I'm often tempted to change my avatar, but don't want to confuse anyone.

The sword, however, is accurate. He carries it everywhere.

Sorry to tweak your noodle so badly, buuuuuut...Iggwilv fits the Lilith archetype much better than the Soulknife Drow did. I do have a fondness for that avatar, and I promised myself I wouldn't change avatars unless it really really fit.

My avatar is one of the most used by the masses, but I don't see too many regular posters using it.

I like to pretend that all of the Asmodeuses (Asmodei?) are marshalling their resources in secret waiting for the day of reckoning.

Heh. Totally understandable. Iggwilv is a demon queen and you are the Demon Queen of Victuals. It fits, it was just mind-boggling.

I'd just like to state for the record that I bear no ill will towards avatar-changers. It just screws with my thinky meats, is all.

Liberty's Edge

I'll nevar switch. I've made the snarky warwoof mine.
Others can use him tho; warwoofism is communicablabla bla bla bla bla

Plus my arms and legs are really that skinny.

I like this one more. I actually do have pointy ears. >.<

If I ever have to meet anyone from the boards in person, I'm wearing a mask so as not to confuse them. And have a sign that says "Dirk Gently" in blue. The fun part will be all the odd stares I get from non-Paizonians. Heck, I'll try it now even.

So far I've met up with two of the Paizo regulars here: Daigle and Vattnise. Both of them can attest to the fact that I am not, in fact, a bespectacled, ram-horned, demonic creature with a goatee. One of those characteristics is accurate, however. I'll let you decide which one it is. :)

P.S. Hmmmm ... I wonder how many people are just too young to catch that reference...

I caught it. Not sure if that is "good" or "bad"...

I have tried to change avatars 3 times now only to be told to switch back. Although I'm nearly near a lord of the board, I'm stuck with the dumb hairy ogre and the stick:)

Neither. It's the trenchcoat that fits.

And just to twist your brain a bit more to the left...

I like the crow better anyway. Fits better.

Silver Crusade

I feel no need to debase myself with anything short of my full angelic glory.

There can be only one... thousand wolf head avatars.

I'll not change mine. It suits me fine.

(lol) I know, right?

Heathansson wrote:

I can't remember another poster who uses Heathansson's avatar.

Liberty's Edge

There was one guy who started using it. And I thought to myself, "WTF? Better recognize."
Then I thought, "meh...everybody uses Jade's wolf head; I don't need to be a dork about it."
Then he posted some jive about, "there's 6 people using MY avatar. I gotta assassinate them. It's my werewolf."
whatever...So I don't lift a leg on the snarky woof, and that's what I get.
Ultradan don't get disrespected with his Wil Wheaton Hulkbaby.

First one to claim this baby!

Now, if only they would put up an image of almighty Pazuzu, so that I may pay him proper homage . . .

I like this one. :)

Scarab Sages

I periodically look through them and entertain the idea of changing, but still like this one the best for me. And there are few others that have it.

Too ... much ... change ...

I am quite pleased with me, were I an elf, this is how I would look. There is a peaceful, serene quality about it I can only hope I portray in my physical form.
As far as everyone else changing their avatars, well, Lilith and Daigle threw me for a loop, I kind of agree with Fatespinner on that, but, we'll get used to it all over again, friends may change on the outside, but you're still you where it counts.

Paizo Employee Director of Narrative

With the time it took for my avatar to change throughout all of my measly 1200-something posts I can't imagine how long Heathy's would take. It might bring down the boards for a minute or two.

The Jade wrote:

I really like the new "snarling werewolf head with teeth" avatar, but I'm attached to my totem animal. What I really need is an avatar that displays what a gentle and loving person I am to the world, while simultaneously serving as a coded map to the location of where I buried the neigh.... treasure. Yeah, that's right. Buried treasure. Word.

Silver Crusade

So being a mere serf of the boards, I realize I'm not entitled to a unique avatar, but how does one go about changing it in the first place?
